When you actually take the time to list out our players it isn't that bad:
Must keep players/ascending youngsters -
Rank 1:
Tunsil
Fitzpatrick
Drake
Wilson
Howard
Baker
Rank 2:
Grant
Jones
Kiko
McCain
James
Godchaux/Taylor
Jason Sanders
Key vets- Gore, Tanne, Wake, Stills....Quinn has been coming on.... Josh Sitton could be an absolute HUGE upgrade if he's able to stay healthy next year. Tunsil and a healthy Sitton is probably the best left side of the O-Line in the NFL. Very understated imo how much his specific injury hurt us this year.
Undecided/need to improve:
Gesiciki
Branch
McMillan
Ballage
Bolden
Butler
This was just a quick off the top or my head list feel free to add on. Not looking good for guys like Harris, Tank, Asiata and others but really this team is not in that bad of shape. We have talent on both sides of the ball and a good amount of it is young and improving.
Here, IMO, is a reasonable proxy. Take All-Pro players, first/second team. Those are 'elite,' with little argument. Exclude any one time finalist - I don't want 'flash in the pan.' How many players on each team make All Pro? OK, so very few elite players. Now, how many does Miami have? Depends? Do we count 'was' All Pro at one time? Do we count 'injured." Do we count ST (Denny)? Most people don't.
For 'was,' Wake, Jones, Sitton.
Current, maybe none, although I can make a case for X.
Not unreasonable to be there soon . . . X, Fitz, Tunsil.
But, I think it's more important to have some solid players and, even top teams, are loaded with mostly AVERAGE players. Yeah, 2-3 elite, a handful of solid, and a LOT of average. I've said a couple of times, what would Miami's record be with an average or above OC/DC? Yeah, this team has talent and is a LONG way from 'dry.'
