Flores Indicates That Rosen Is Not Ready Yet... (merged 3x)

He was also being facetious. Or so he says.

Similar to when Simon got on twitter and said that if the Dolphins win 6 games then everyone should be fired, or something like that.

It’s ok...Chris carries the load on that podcast...it’s obvious to any listener!

Most of the posters who trash Rosen and pump Tua (or whoever) are just digging in on their earlier (and preliminary) positions...
AFRAID they'll have to eat a bit of criticism from the rest of us...
So they get hyper-critical about this or that play and then hope for the worst... being more interested in their own reputation than our team's welfare.
They are crappy fans and genuinely sad human beings.

That said.. Rosen played VERY well... again. Better than Fitz. Better movement in the pocket... better touch on passes... just better... and he's 22.

Come to Jesus you nay-sayers.

For what it's worth: in the post game show Flores said that they will re-evaluate the QB position.
Its truly a no brainier Josh is out there playing with moxie with a horrible line in front of him and still producing. His ball is noticeably better by a mile. He passes the eye test, Fitz should be the backup and mentor this year and wouldn't be horrible in that position for a couple of seasons.

And the last time the NFL had a great QB out of UCLA was Troy Aikman 30 years ago. An Oklahoma transfer.

Josh Rosen's future has absolutely nothing to do with who the last great QB out of UCLA was, or UCLA's "ability" to pump out NFL quarterbacks.

If you want him to succeed careful what you wish for... Baltimore, New England, Dallas, LA Chargers to start the season.

Even if he is better than Fitz he will most likely get eaten alive by those defenses and Miami's OL.

Then your stuck praying your Jesus igets resurrected as you turn him into a martyr blaming the OL, HC, OC, blah blah blah.

Finheaven just went through that the past 7 years with Tannehill. No need to start that nonsense already with Rosen.

Flores is a smart guy. Most likely Rosen starts the season on the sideline until after the bye week.

I've been open about the fact that it is in Rosen's best interest not to start those games.

He is better than Fitz, but our coaches are more than happy to let Fitz lose those games... we wont be very good this year regardless...

Due to those first 4 games, I hope Rosen takes over after the bye.

So after reviewing the throws of both qbs, Rosen is the clear winner. Fitzpatrick is proving that last year's "fitzmagic" was a combination of todd monkens offense and him having a an odd stretch where he played at AN elite level. After that nothing.

But it seems Rosen needs to refine some finer points. Such as his ability to take and make easy throws. Also he needs to understand the protections better. The unfortunate reality is that fitzpatrick will only win the competition because of that reality.

As for sitting Rosen the first four games... I doubt it takes that long. if fitz continues to play at that level it will happen quicker. Look at what happened to Darnold, Allen and Mayfield last year. "The schedule is to hard" narrative is some grade a bull, every game is hard in the NFL.

There's not a whole left to evaluate. Nothing is going to change among these qb's between now and the start of practice for week 1. It is what it is. It's just a matter of Flores wanting to start off with a vet who will at the very least run the offense competently or a "quasi" rookie, who you know will have his head scratching moments running the offense. At this point their play is about equal.
