I can't believe the positive reviews for A.J. Feeley in tonight's game. Saban blew me away by praising Feeley in the postgame press briefing, mentioning the 16 for 20.
Yeah, for less than 100 yards. That performance certified beyond argument that Feeley would be a continuing disaster as starting QB. If I'm not mistaken his preseason numbers are below last year's 5.32 yards per attempt ineptitude, which should be next to impossible especially playing against second teamers and with a star talent like David Boston on your unit.
The signature series for Feeley ended the first half. Timeout with 25 seconds remaining from around the Pittsburgh 40. Feeley throws a 2 yard pass. Timeout with 19 seconds remaining. Another 2 yard pass. Then he wanders around with the clock running down, changing the play and the formation, oblivious to the situation and the half ends.
At least Frerotte provides an opportunity for success. He went downfield repeatedly tonight. Not accurate but when you challenge often it just takes a few and those successful strikes will come in time. Mr. Mediocre Marty Booker failed to bring down one long pass when he had all the advantage in body positioning. And McMichael dropped several in a performance that would have had other posters here calling for the gullotine if it had been Donald Lee.
