For The People Who Watched The Game...

You should care if he throws 4 yard passes. That is Feeley's MO and it is absolutely suicidal in the NFL. I've posted dozens of times regarding the necessity of yards per attempt. Feeley defaults underneath regardless of the primary receiver or the coverage. I saw that in person in the Tennessee opener last year and it has only gotten worse, if anything.

I know football well enough that Nevada sportsbooks pay me to chart and analyze stats for them. Likewise a couple of bigtime bettors. It's primarily basic stuff in the NFL: run the ball often, pass the ball well.

Yards per attempt is ignorantly ignored by the mainstream media including ESPN. Whenever I see the overall QB rating published or mentioned they might as well be playing the Monty Python theme song in the background. The overall QB rating is the chic stat right now but it's useless. The sportsbooks don't care about it. I've never heard a single major Las Vegas handicapper who utilizes it.

You're referring to whoever has the better yds per pass atempt coupled with the better rush per game wins right?

Feeley was perfect throwing the Ball until Minor fumbled the ball and, he was well on his way to scoring till Mann fumbled the ball at the 35yrd line.

Lets face it Ferotte has by far better pocket presence but geez the guy is so inaccurate.
IMO Ferotte has not done anything in the preseason to warrant the starting job.
Im sorry but Ferotte is horrible especially for a guy that knows Linehans sytem. Im not sure his arm any stronger than Fiedlers

I can't believe the positive reviews for A.J. Feeley in tonight's game. Saban blew me away by praising Feeley in the postgame press briefing, mentioning the 16 for 20.

At least Frerotte provides an opportunity for success. He went downfield repeatedly tonight. Not accurate but when you challenge often it just takes a few and those successful strikes will come in time. Mr. Mediocre Marty Booker failed to bring down one long pass when he had all the advantage in body positioning. And McMichael dropped several in a performance that would have had other posters here calling for the gullotine if it had been Donald Lee.

What do you expect the coach to say? Feeley still sucks, even though he completed 16-20? :shakeno:

Feeley still played his best preseason game, and his completion percentage was surely better. So he gets what he deserves, some praise.

Those long balls Ferrotte tossed up won't cut it, and unless he starts throwing it near his Wr's that "will come in time" comment will be to few, and to far between to score any points, much less sustain any drives. Yeah lets just toss the ball down field 40 times a game so they can catch 3-4 of them! That way us fans have something to cheer about.

You should have just said Ferrotte just plain stunk tonight, along with the rest of the starting Offense.

Having body position only helps. You still have to catch the ball with two hands, so tell me how his body position could have stopped the defender from getting his ARM in there? The defender made a good play...

You go back and show me a game where Donald Lee has darn near carried a team on his back, and I'll show some slack for him. But from the time he was drafted until now, he has deserved a guillotine.

McMike had probably his worst game, and deserves to be called out for it. He was terrible, and hopefully the coaches ride his (_)_) all week.

Nice post Ozzy.

You gotta laugh when it comes to McMike. He goes out of his way to sing the praises of Frerotte and the fact that we have a starter and how its great to have a starter to practice with and then he plays a major part in making sure the competition is refreshed anew.

Someone must have switched the labels on two jars in McMike's locker. The Stickm and the Vasaline. :D

I think a lot of tonight was just trying to see if certain things might work against a constant blitz. The blocking was terrible. Hadnot had breakdowns, Carey, McMike........man I could probably name them all and be 100 % correct.

I was unable to see the game, but from reports from some of you guys, reports by the press, and the stats, it looks like Feeley did OK against 2nd stringers and Gus struggled pretty badly against the starters. Just like Feeley struggled against the starters and Gus did OK against the 2nd stringers previously. It seems to me that neither of our QBs do very well against 1st string defenses but both do OK against the 2nd stringers which means we are probably in for a long season. As for who now has the lead in the QB competition......IMO we are right back where we started....both of them about even.

Im not from Oregon and you seem pretty biased to me too.

yeah, I was talking to oregonfinfan, from the same state that AJ grew up and went to college in....kinda making a reference as to where his bias comes from

... did A.J. Feeley improve on his pocket presence and reciever starring problem?

Aparently the receiver starring problem is a highly contagious disease that all Dolphin QB's become stricken with.

Gus had it a number of times tonight and showed it really bad on an interception. I don't get what is so hard about the "not so secret" QB lookoff strategy but apparently to the Phins QB's and their QB coach it is a VERY secret strategy. One they haven't figured out yet.

For some reason McDougle seems to really have problems picking up blitzes especially when LB/Lineman twists are involved. Every game so far this preseason I've seen him let both guys go by him on these stunts while he stands there in indecisiveness. Twice it happened to him tonight.

I hope these problems will disappear when they start gameplanning.

I have a couple questions for the guys that watched the game...Why was Boston playing in the second half against the third stringers? I thought he was the no.3 Wr didn't Miami use any three Wr sets in the game or him atleast playing in the 2nd quarter, I thought he was moving up the charts, and why did Ronnie not play, at least one or two series?
