Football Guru
If I were a billionaire like Ross I would search the world over until I found a top notch staff at every position and would pay them top dollar. I would not have someone like TannenBUM making decisions.
Ross won't get rid of anyone. We're doomed
IMO
This week, no.
When the Dolphins have been mathematically eliminated from playoffs? Yes. Then, do the following:
1. Remove Matt Burke from defensive coordinator. Have his box packed, escort him from the building and do not say goodbye.
2. Elevate Rizzi to interim head coach for the remainder of the season, giving him Defensive Coordinator calls. He can select who he wants for special teams coordinator or continue that role as well.
3. Give offensive coordinator calls to the current OC for the remainder of the season. Not like it matters.
4. Use remainder of 2018 and offseason to evaluate the team moving forward in regards to the QB position, drafting, scouting, conditioning and try to find a coach who's needs you can meet ($$$). I will say if Rizzi performs well, perhaps keep him in mind, but definitely keep him on the team, perhaps elevate to DC, otherwise let the new HC select their O and D coordinators. Hopefully Tannehill can perform well the remainder of the season so we could possibly trade for a high 2020 draft pick.
5. Remove Tannenbaum from his position and replace with someone more knowledgeable (I admit I dont know many off hand, im sure they are out there).
6. If no trade options, retain Tannehill for 2019, draft OLine and DLine players. If Tannehill traded, use Fales and Falk for 2019. Tannehill can still provide valuable advice to the younger QB's.
7. Compete as much as possible under new coach in the 2019 season. Analyze who stays and who goes for 2020.
2019 is shot already for the Dolphins. There are gaping holes on offense, defense, QB, everywhere. Best bet is to not necessarily tank, but to remove the things that hinder competition and shoot for the 2020 draft as a leapboard for the next 5-10 years.
Post of the year canidate.I'd argue that the team and organization was in a better place and position before Gase arrived. He took a cupcake schedule his first year, rode 200 yard games by Ajayi's legs, Tannehill's arm, missed field goals by other teams, and we miraculously made the playoffs. This was with all of Philbin's players and some holdover coaches (most notably Rizzi).
What has he done since then? Ran grown men out of the building because he's unable to cope and coach strong personalities that show a spark or pulse of emotion for the game of football.
What has he brought in? Yes men, and soft patsies that will align with his vision for...mediocrity. His offensive philosophy and schemes are just as ****ty as his playcalling and football sense.
I'd maintain that Adam Gase's greatest claim to fame in his tenure with this organization was cutting ties with Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner. This was after the fact that the fan base and media was howling and questioning why these players were still with the team and actually playing in games. He'll only grudgingly do what's best for the team and organization when the heat is threatening his delicate sensibilities.
I can't stand the pompous muppet. It's a tragedy what he has done in his short tenure here. And you know what? Once this laughable, phony guru is out of the building he will leave us in much WORSE shape than when he arrived.
This was like a science experiment gone awry.
Belichick pre Brady had a positive point differential while Gase has a -189 point differential. Belichick also was a super bowl champion as a coordinator. Excluding the three years with Peyton, Gase has only been a coach on a winning team 1 year out of 12.Belichick pre Brady
6-10
7-9
7-9
11-5
5-11
5-11
After that, Brady, and Belichick is the god among gods of coach’s. Would be interesting to see him without Brady for good, not a few games all hands on deck.
People need to stop wanting to blow everything up every 2-3 years or we will continue this Groundhog Day nightmare.
We need a QB who can elevate the team and win on his shoulders, until then no coach is going to get us past the 6-10 / 10-6 cycle.
