Scheduling tough opponents early works out well when you're the underdog. The majority of upsets and closer than they should be games tend to happen the first week.

Not saying they knew they'd be the underdog when the game was scheduled, just speaking generally. Week one is a great time to face a top team if you aren't.

Otherwise these early cupcake games serve as a type of preseason where you can get some chemistry going before you face the meat of the schedule.

He is athletic and has a strong arm but I just don’t see him as a first round draft pick. Caleb Williams looks like the best QB in college football at this time and he won’t even be eligible for the draft until 2024.
