General NCAA thread

Blake Simms is a fine young man and a heck of a player. Congrats to him on the MVP.

This FSU-GT game is well on its way to setting the NCAA record for single-game rushing yards.

GT is using the jets game plan against FSU. Never see so much running and hardly any passing.

One of the most beautiful things in football is a team that runs the triple option well like GT. I live out here where I see a good bit of Air Force. I love going to the game when Army or Navy is in town. Fun atmosphere and both teams try to option each other to death and the game never takes too long because the clock just keeps on rolling.

Dumbass 4th down attempt by GT. FG for FSU should do it for this game.

That's GT's game plan period.

Well, Louisville ended up in the Belk Bowl instead of the Music City Bowl (where they were supposed to be) because LSU balked at playing us and wanted the golden domers instead. I guess I don't blame them, Notre Dame won't put up much of a fight. That's a sure win for them.

The ACC/ND have a great opportunity to prove their worth against the SEC with several good bowl matchups.

 LSU would destroy Louisville. Choosing to play vs. Notre Dame had nothing to do with wanting to play a lesser team or some supposed fear of Louisville.

It is too bad that FSU did not get to play Alabama. That would have been fun watching Saban humiliate FSU.

I thought the committee might have set up a traditional Rose Bowl matchup with Big 10 vs. Pac 12. Florida St. vs Bama in the Sugar Bowl worked better logistically as well.

Don't worry, WV, FSU will meet your Tide in Dallas...Mark it down. I'll expect you to put your proverbial money where your mouth is at that time. I don't bet money but most anything else is fair game.

Yep, we've heard that one before. UF fans and SEC fans all said the same thing before the Sugar Bowl a couple of years ago. Then after that Sugar Bowl they all changed their tune to "well, UF just wasn't that interested in the game." Always a moving target with some SEC fans. I'm sure it's the same with your front running ass, isn't it? Oh I thought we were "Loserville" to you? Or did you get tired of sounding like a UK fan? Oh please tell me you're a UK basketball fan too. Please say you are. Alabama football fan and UK basketball fan would sooooo suit you.

I see you're posting back in the main forum again. I wonder why.

Truth be told I'm guessing the Music City bowl didn't need their arm twisted to invite Notre Dame since most bowls jump at the chance to invite them because of their name.

Let's just talk about a few coaching moves...

Tom Herman (Ohio State OC) is the new HC at Houston. I fully expect Herman to become a hot name with big openings in 2-3 years. QB guru

Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State DC) is the new HC at Pitt. Well deserved shot, but how much of Sparty's defense was him and how much was D'Antoni?

Mike Bobo is replacing McElwain at Colorado State. Dunno enough about him, but he's taking over a solid foundation that could help raise his profile.

Chad Morris of course is the new HC at SMU. Has a long rebuild here, but Morris is a good fit.

UNLV taking a risk hiring local HS coach Tony Sanchez to rebuild their program. Sanchez produced a lot of talent at Bishop Gorman, but going from HC in high school to college is a huge jump.

Kansas and Tulsa hired up and coming OCs from the area in Phillip Montgomery and Dave Beaty. Beaty has experience at Kansas and has already started to do a bit better recruiting.

Paul Cryst IMO is a good hire for Wisconsin. Born and raised in Madison, played there and coached there. Liked what he started building at Pitt but Pitt needed a rebuild. Wisconsin should stay status quo.

Gary Andersen is IMO a good coach. Interesting move going to Oregon State from Wisconsin but I understand his reasonings. Going to be very tough to win consistently there though unless they upgrade the facilities.

Mike Riley was a meh hire for Nebraska. Decent enough coach, but underwhelming after firing Bo Pelini.

Doug Nussmeir had a lackluster year at Michigan but will be going to Florida as OC. I wish him the best.

Rumors are DJ Durkin has an offer from Texas A&M to be DC but is waiting to see if Harbaugh takes Michigan job.

I think the decision by CMU to go for 2 and call a fade has to be the dumbest, most anticlimactic ending to a game I've ever seen.

You just got the game to within a point on perhaps the most improbable play I've ever seen in my life... and you decline overtime for that?
