GM Candidates Still Confused About Power Structure

Media make up stuff - they don't consult each other - stories sell to people like you the gullible mass - do you also collect the National Enquirer magazine?

Ok. I guess the Fins are fin they way they conduct themselves. If you are happy...power goes to you. On the other hand, I am angry and frustrated that the Fins are not winning and are only relevant when a bullying scandal allegedly comes to light.

There was a recent article that stated that Dawn Aponte was involved in the GM interview process. I could see how that would cause confusion. If her role as stated by Ross is only on the money side, than why is she involved with interviewing the GM?

Good point. Must be a media creation.

So you take out your anger by whining about every move they make. Do us all a favor and lift weights, run, play bball do something because over the last month your whining far outweighs any positive you have brought to the board.

Tom Garfinkel was also involved in the interviews. So was Carl Peterson. Obviously, since Peterson and Garfinkle were in the interviews, it must mean they are the ones who are secretly running the drafts and the GM is just a figurehead puppet.

Holy crap what's wrong with you people....have you never been on an interview before?

I don't care

Of course not. It doesnt supplement your point of view.

Philbin is to blame for bad referee calls vs Baltimore? Philbin is to blame for missed field goals in the first Buffalo meeting? Philbin is to blame for the defense' inability to stop Newton when the game is on the line? Philbin is to blame for an offensive line that made history? Philbin is to blame for an offense so bland licking a wall would provide more flavor?

All of the sudden, it isnt a team sport anymore. In one year, 5 years of bad drafting doesnt factor in- all so very convenient for you.

Your point of view is short-sided, but it has been made and you cannot backpedal now. You must plow on through no matter how little sense it makes so why even have this discussion? I am wrong to you. You are wrong to me.

Why in the world would the person in charge of negotiating and constructing contracts be involved in the hiring process .... :hello:

Sorry you feel that way. However, at the end of each week when I did my assessments, I got a ton of positive feedback.

This site is about debating all things Dolphins and I question the process right now.

Two candidates for the Miami Dolphins general manager job said they remain confused about exactly how the power structure within the team will work after going through initial interviews. Despite a public statement from owner Stephen Ross that the new GM will report to him, the private view during interviews was not so clear, the candidates said.
That has led to uneasiness among those candidates, who say that other candidates they have talked to expressed the same feeling.
“Maybe they’re waiting for the second interview to lay it all out, but they were completely non-committal about how it was going to work,” one candidate said Monday. “I honestly don’t know if you answer to the owner or to (Vice President of Football Administration) Dawn Aponte. It’s all really unclear.

I know our Fins don't have the best reputation right now, but you know what? Go take a flying leap. All these gosh darn "anonymous"
jack wagons taking shots at the team. Attach your name to it your statement you flipping wimps and take yourself out of the running.

It's pretty dang important they make the right GM hire right now. Sorry their hiring process is taking more than 5 minutes.

I have been involved with numerous job interviews and not one involved the person managing payroll.

Apparently the many ****pile games vs inferior teams the Dolphins lost this year due to lack of preparation has completely escaped your attention??

Even with all the shoddy calls against the Phins in the games you mentioned, the Dolphins still would have made the playoffs with even a halfway decent showing against the bills (twice), Buccs and jets.

This coaching staff, like Ross, hasn't shown much of anything to get excited about.

And the good- no- very good teams we beat? They go the way of the dinosaur because heaven forbid your philosophy is flawed.

You have a 15-17 coach growing with a rookie QB with a god awful influx of draft youth/talent and you are surprised the road is bumpy? Bro, I dont want to scare you so be advised that if you walk outside the sky may be blue. Just a heads up.

If the lot of you would put down the bitterness of being oh so close, you would realize that a playoff push was nothing short of a miracle. I know its hard to put it down. I laid in bed without a wink of sleep until the morning sick to my stomach after the Jets game, work the only force that dragged me out of bed. I am with you- i am one of you.

But you must also see what couldve been. Let Tannehill hit a 3 or 4 of those miss throws for touchdowns and...

You can't justify firing a head coach mere plays away from the playoffs in his second year. Thats, well, back to my favorite word: ridiculous.

BTW, the GM candidate who was quoted in the article. Has he taken his name out of consideration?

He should be crossed off the list. He obviously wasn't a good listener, or didn't ask the right questions, or accepted unlcear feedback about what his role would be. For someone who is supposed to have an investigative-type mind, and for someone who will be conducting his own interviews with players, I think the quotes in that article would demonstrate a lack of due diligence on that candidate's part.

Call me out if you wish, but I sincerely doubt you have ever been in the environment with the option to sign a mulit-million dollar contract paid out by a billionaire amidst a world re-known multi-billion dollar association like that of the NFL. They're not sitting on folding chairs around a portable table discussing a Target application, I'll put it that way.
