GM Candidates Still Confused About Power Structure

Some of you guys are just crazy. to think Dawn has such power over player selection and so forth and that the GM answers to her. If that is the case thean any GM should not worry becasue Jeff went buckwild last season selcting players and getting crazy money to them. dawn only follows directions and make the contracts come together. She is the money watcher and makes sure that eh GM understands what money he has left is he give an X amount of money to player a/b/c.

This is just media talk. If a potential GM cant figure that out then please tell Ross who it is so he can be taken out of consideration!!!!!!

Ross has put together a billion dollar portfolio, not by himself, but by surrounding him with the right people/advisors. Obviously his decisions have yielded prosperity. This hiring process will be no different and there is no reason to rush. We have had 7 quality interviews with the possibility of more as the season comes to a close for all teams.

Gamble is still a gamble but I believe we're leaving the door open as we continue to prod him with possibilities.

JFK's.......that was a conspiracy.....this is not!! Ross needs to stop making half moves.

Ozzy rules!!

This situation was not created by the media, it was created by Ross. When he got rid of Sparano he kept Ireland. Big Mistake. Now he gets rid of Ireland but keep Philbin. Another mistake. Any GM that knows what he's doing wants to bring his ow HC. Philbin might turn out to be a good HC at some point but Ross made a mistake and created a mess by keeping him. The media doesn't have anything personal on the dolphins. They just keep on making mistakes and decisions that make no sense. You can't have 3 people in charge and then expect everyone to be on the same page. I'm glad he got rid of Ireland but he needed to clean house. It's like he's always trying to fix things half way. Say what you want but at least 4 or 5 guys have turn down interviews for the job. Why is that? They don't want to walk into a mess. If Ross wants the best then he needs to let that person make the decisions. Instead he wants a GM that can't make any final decisions. How is that te media's fault? And for those who want Philbin as HC, what is it what he's done that is so amazing to make you want him as the HC?

Ozzy rules!!

I dont know how you can justify firing a coach that held a team together. Im not happy about Philbin because as a head coach, you shouldnt let anyone on your staff get away with substandard work even if it be a lifelong friend. But one cannot undermine the stability the team exhibited in the face of what I believe to be the most ridiculous story ever to come out of a football camp- ever. I truly believed mayhem and a colossal debacle was going to ensue. It didnt. They kept the media at bay ( as much as possible) by winning.

Our hearts were broken when the Miami Dolphins crashed and burned yet again. As for me, looking back, Im grateful for the mere excitement and roller-coaster butterflies. After the incident, I never thought in a million years we would make a playoff push.

Now, you can blame Philbin for crashing and burning but the truth of it is we've been doing it for a very long time. Even with Marino, the Miami Dolphins are historically bad in the last half of the season.

I do like the candidates. Now, pick one and give him the ability to fix this thing. No more half measures. Get out of his way.

When it comes to his "football" advisors, Ross has been led to keep mediocre GM with credibility problems long past due and hired and kept on a good "administrator" a dull, uninspiring personality with no other unique talents to be head coach of his team.

He may have assembled a good team of employees and advisors as it relates to the real estate business, but he has shown no such talent when it comes to the football business.

So this really boils down to you being inpatient and whining about it.

If GM candidates are worried about not having enough power in Miami, how is Tampa Bay ever going to fill their opening? Where are the articles and criticism of what the Buccaneers are doing?

Yes it does.

I keep harping on this but not a peep from the media on Tampa.

There are two types of power structures that people are comfortable with.

A:) GM has power, HC works under him

B:) HC has power, GM works under him

In option B, the GM is more like a glorified scout.

Our model where the GM and HC don't report to each other is a bit more unusual, thus the uneasiness.

The Buccs are going with option B, as Lovie has the power.

The problem with the Dolphins is that candidates are unsure if the power between HC and GM is truly equal, as Philbin already has a voice in Ross' ear and has Aponte in his corner. That's the difference. Candidates know what they are getting in Tampa, not so much here

No. However, do you think it might be important for the new GM to get with the HC and figure out what to do? It is only the college all-start season and combine a month away.

Kept the team together?.....lets just say that he did, what des that has to do with him not being the right guy for the job? You do know that we had 2 weeks to get ready to play he lowly bills at home and lost. He did not had his team ready to play. Then we had 11 days to get ready for the winless bucs and lost 2. He didn't have his tea ready to play. The team id not score a TD on it's opening drive for the last 12 gamesof the year which shows he just can't get a team ready to play. They came out flat all the time. There was no fire on the team at all. Then he needs to win just 1 game to make the plahyoffs and the team laid an egg in Buffalo......then they need to just beat the lowly jets at HOME to make the playoffs ad the team lays yet another egg. I don't care what he did during the Incognito/Martin thing he just can't motivate or get his team ready to either beat a bad tea or even when going for the playoffs. So again, if you want him to be the HC cause he "kept the team together" then well, you must be pretty young and have gotten used t the low standard.

How many candidates does Tampa have? So far its between Lake Dawson and Jason Licht. How many candidates has Miami interviewed? 7? Sounds like nobody wants to go to Tampa.

Lots of teams in the NFL have the same HC/GM relationship Miami has.
