Go, Go Go

Fins fan is right, every game so far without fail. This has to be a problem? No? Defense certainly has an edge.

How does the defense have an edge? He snaps the ball immediately after his cadence so they'd have .5 second to take their body's momentum one way or the other.

It means that..

- Defensive linemen can cancel their pass rush stunts, and focus on run stoppage.

- LBs don't have to worry about the TE releasing, busting down the seam.

- DBs can focus on the RB instead of WRs.

- QB's play action isn't going to fool anyone.

All false. Good luck doing all of those things in half a second. It would be one thing if Tannehill snapped the ball 10 seconds after his cadence.

People who don't think this tips off the D are delusional. I'm sitting there in front of the TV knowing exactly what is coming after every snap. Hear one "Go"? Don't worry about that play action! He ain't handing it off. Hear "Go Go"? Crash that line of scrimmage.

If my buddies think I'm psychic, either they're stupid or the Dolphins think the defense is stupid.

What does you sitting on the couch and listening to the cadence have to do with being responsible for run stopping or blanketing a WR on a go route? Yeah when you hear 'Go' as a fan you know it's a pass but you have no responsibility to concentrate on the player you're out there to defend against.

This was a Happy Hour debate on South Beach as well. The Go or Go Go for a run is the snap count. The ball comes out of Pouncey's hand on one of the two words, Hut or Hut Hut used to be used. In that fraction of a second, with the speed of sound, the OL is moving back for a pass or, forward for a run.

I re-watched the first quarter on this, and saw no effect whatsoever on what the D was doing. Maybe Mr Bill is not one to take advantage of this. :) I also saw RT Go with a Go, and throw a screen for a nice gain.

Hard for me to believe that the LB's and CB's are gonna change anything in what they hear or may not hear due to crowd noise. Imagine a defender trying to explain to Mr Bill that he blew a coverage because he thought he heard a second Go?

IMO, it's a non-factor.

Not for play action pass or delayed draw runs.

The Miami Go-Gos are telegraphing everything to the defense.

Not sure what you have seen on play action or delayed draws (if we have had any). From what I've seen, play action had defenders laughing until the last two weeks.

the fact this board is the only place that seems to think this is a problem, reassures me that this is absolutely not a problem.

I played a little safety in high school and I can say without a doubt being able to know if a run or a pass was coming would absolutely make a HUGE difference. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!! Almost all plays start out in a backpedal while you try to decipher run vs pass. I can also tell you deciphering run vs pass is much harder than it sounds, It is not easy to follow the ball from the safety position trying to look past your linebackers, your dline, and their oline (all moving parts many of which are mammoth sized). In fact, on the majority of plays my reaction would actually be determined by our coaching staff screaming "RUN!" or "PASS!" from the sideline (which they did on every single play). Of course they could not scream that until the play developed and they figured it out themselves. I cannot say how much this would help the other defensive positions but I can say the advantage would be immeasurable from the safety position.

Played safety in HS huh? How come the professional safeties in the NFL haven't shut the Dolphins out all year if they know what's coming? How are the Dolphins able to score any points then if the defense knows which exact plays are being run?

I'm in shock that people DO NOT think it's a problem. I played football for a VERY long time and have been coaching football for a very long time. Anyone who says that this isn't important probably never stepped on a field as a player or a coach. This is pee-wee football basics! You do NOT queue a team in on what's coming with something as elementary as a snap count. It DOES hurt. There is no way around it. YOU ARE ALLOWING PROFESSIONAL athletes to KNOW that a run or a pass is coming and some of you think this isn't a problem. Truly laughable to think that some do not look at this as a problem. When a defense is queued with something as obvious as that, it IS an issue. How can it NOT be? I see a lot of people SAYING it isn't an issue, but have yet to see anyone explain how it isn't. REALLY? It's laughable, really, to think that people do not see this as a problem. I can't express it enough! Think about it: you have professional athletes on the field. They are extremely gifted athletes. To allow them to KNOW what is coming is an OBVIOUS disadvantage.

Let us break it down: GO= Pass. Okay the defense KNOWS they can come hard at the QB and not WORRY AT ALL about the run. And the DBs know they do NOT have to come up to support the run defense. LMAO! NOT a disadvantage? Really? That's seriously laughable. It's elementary.

GO GO: Okay, this is a run. We can bring a safety up for help and the LBs know they have no worries in coverage on TEs and can attack the gaps. NOT an issue? Please folks. Think about it. I could go even deeper than this, but if this doesn't get the point across then NOTHING will.

I played a little QB in my backyard and I can tell you that using a similar that the Dolphins do the Monroe twins could not stop me and my brother from scoring....

EXACT PLAYS? Really? That's the thing. You don't have to KNOW the EXACT play to know you don't have to respect one aspect of the offense. It is a huge assist for the defense. To think otherwise just blows my mind.

Some seem to be confused on the Go's being the snap, as opposed to telling the D what is coming before that.

In all due respect, I just watched two games of the Go Go's, and did not see any defender making any move based on it. Other than lower level FB opinion, it would appear to me that it makes no difference at the Pro level.

I'm wide open to be wrong IF anyone can give me a play or two where it mattered. You will have to go back before the last two games.
