Good News-Bad News (Dion Jordan vs. Jon Martin)

It is still mind boggling that again this year we are concerned and discussing our o-line, especially after all the money we spent on other positions
it should have been the first thing addressed and completed in the off season and draft

CK what do you make then of the fact that we improved the Right Tackle position?

Tyson Clabo is a huge upgrade over Martin on the right side, and we've indeed weakened the LT position by letting Long walk.

I'm not sure what to make of Dion Jordan crushing Martin, but I think that Jordan's pass rushing ability was pretty indisputable to begin with.

But despite the OL shuffle we're playing right now, one could make an argument that it's closer to a wash than we realize with the addition of a solid Clabo.

I think there's a loss of perspective going on with some onlookers.

When you allow 4 sacks to a rookie over the course of two days on a handful of snaps, you're not doing "OK". You're not playing "decent". You are indeed "struggling". Sorry if someone doesn't agree, but they'd be wrong. They can claim "I watch the practices I'm there every day" etc etc...doesn't matter. The STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE for what is good in this league and what is not, is what it is.

Yep....well said.....Martin MUST step up this year or it could be a very long and painful year :-(

I'll reserve judgment until real games start. Fact is this is practice and they are probably going mostly man to man in these situations. How often does a top pass rusher singled up and not double sometimes triple teamed in games? Cameron wake is constantly doubled and tripled. And i'm not saying Jordan is a top pass rusher but he could be again we don't know and should reserve judgment until actual bullets are flying. I'm not defending Martin he was not good last year, but lets wait and see before the freak out fest begins and we call our season over. As to the Nannee discussion who else did we have last year who could have been starting over him to start the season?

You all better get used to it, as long as philbin is the coach we will not throw money at the oline! Wouldn't surprise me if we let pouncey walk when his contract is up!

TAPATALKIN FROM MY HTC ONE, USING THE NOW NETWORK!

Why? Because Green Bay didn't?

I...like it? Not sure if this was a rhetorical question or not.

Tyson Clabo is a huge upgrade over Martin on the right side, and we've indeed weakened the LT position by letting Long walk.

The primary issue I have is that you've put the weakest OL you have on the blind side where he's got to protect the team's franchise quarterback as he tries to ascend and become worthy of that franchise designation. Could lead to more sacks, could lead to fumbles, interceptions, etc...more so than when Martin played on the right side.

I'm not sure what to make of Dion Jordan crushing Martin, but I think that Jordan's pass rushing ability was pretty indisputable to begin with.

That's not really true, IMO. It was a hotly debated topic for draft analysts.

But despite the OL shuffle we're playing right now, one could make an argument that it's closer to a wash than we realize with the addition of a solid Clabo.

Could be.

Option 1: go with J. Martin week 1/let Jake Long walk
Option 2: When Jake Long gets injured in week 1 go with J. Martin.

It was gonna happen either way...

I say dont worry TOO much right now. Jordan will help make Martin better. I just HOPE it happenes sooner rather than later. The shocking thing is Martin should be able to adjust and protect against a speed rusher. I was more worried about his size and strength. A little scarry I must say that he is having a dificult time with a rookie but we still have 5 weeks to get him up to snuff.

Yeah but you bring it up as if I should know what you're talking about. I don't. You're going to have to explain.

OK, we have a battle for the 2nd CB opposite Grimes. Marshall had the early lead but, now it appears it's Patterson, with Carroll, and the two rookies still in the mix.
