Grading the Ja'Wuan James Pick Now

We haven't seen him play in a game yet, a little too early to judge. He may well be in for a rough start given our schedule, but he is a talented kid with a ton of upside. It wasn't sexy, but the pick made sense to me, and still does, so far.

Well he's been inked in as the starter and I haven't heard much bad about him other than wake beat him quite a few times, but nobody seems too concerned so I'm feeling good about him. Wake is an absolute monster that very few guards would stand a chance against everyday in practice. Wake goes full speed every play. I grade it a B so far.

For everyone bringing up Ted Ginn, you realize that was 2007 right?

Yes, and he was only brought up because the guy who made the post said he wanted them to draft one playmaker in his lifetime. Ginn sucks, but he was still an explosive playmaker (perceived to be at the time) that we drafted regardless if he worked out or not.

Geez...how about we see a game or two out of all of them...

I've not heard much of anything coming out about him.

As far as an OLineman is concerned that is VERY, VERY great news. For the most part, this kid is holding his own against one of the very best and most dynamic DL's in the game.

Any questions? :)

Agreed. No news is good news.

Benton was saying some very good things about James in a Barry Jackson article a few weeks ago. Considering Benton's honesty in recent interviews, I saw this as a good sign. Can't wait to actually see him and many others play tomorrow night.

Did you guys see Kouandjio on TV? That guy was hot garbage!

Ditto. I understand the pick but Gawd, I just wanted the Dolphins to at least draft ONE explosive player for ONCE in my lifetime. Just once that's all.

We got landry

We got James..and Landry both players who very well could be cornerstone Dolphins for a long time.

Still to early for a final grade...but damn skippy Im excited about the future.

Well, it's come out that we weren't offered the same trade-up package that was sent a couple of spots below us, so I can't really criticize the team for not trading down a few places and most likely picking up the same player.

This kid is a ****ing rock in pass protection already and looks like he could possibly even slide over to be a solid LT if Albert goes down.

Again still needs to sustain the success in the regular season and for a year or 2, but with other OL struggling it's nice to see him consistently improving.

What you've seen so far though is what I saw that I liked on film FWIW.

Geez...how about we see a game or two out of all of them...

I agree we should actually give it a few games before we make a judgement call, but there are plenty of people willing to make knee jerk reactions on just about every player on this team, even after one preseason game or even one good or bad play. I see the proof every game day with new reaction threads every time
