Gus is starting, THAT'S FINAL. (Evidence)

Yeah that was what I pretty much got out of his statements about the QB competetion. IMO it also seems like AJ will be the backup with Sage and Berlin battling for the 3rd spot.

Go listen to Saban's post-practice conference.

It's as clear as day. Gus has won the job.

Wow I actually got the complete opposite feeling. He said Frerotte was "a little ahead" of Feeley, and that Gus would be starting again in Pittsburgh. Just by the way he talked about the competion makes me believe Feeley still has a slight chance.

If that were the case, Saban would not have stated "Gus is a little ahead in terms of what we want to do on offense...."

He would never tip his hand like that if there was still a true battle going on.

Yeah, unless Gus just falls apart or AJ gets possessed by the ghost of Dan Marino, that's how it struck me as well.

No smack intended but you guys are seriously better off with Gus. Not only because he knows Linehan's system(sp?) but he's way better than AJ. As for Berlin still being in the mix, I think he makes Ray Lucas lool like a HOFamer. That about sums it up

I dunno man, I guess when he said Gus was only a little ahead is what makes me believe Feeley has a chance, because the way people have been talking about Feeley the past few days, I kind of expected Saban to say Feeley was done for.

Channel 7 news has stated that Gus is starting this saturday against Pittsburgh.

I wish Feeley could've pulled it out too. Saban isn't going to come out and say someone is done, but the way he stated his answer I believe Gus is the starter. Hopefully he will do good, I root for the Fins, not players.:)

Dude, coming from Saban, "a little ahead" means "the competition os OVER."

Think of ANY other positional battle on this team. Ones that are still up in the air. Has Saban EVER come out and said "well, this guy is a little ahead, or we are going to give him another start because he's more in sync with what we want to do on offense..." No, he has not.

When Saban doesn't want to give away who is winning a battle, it's the same rhetoric every time.
It's: "We will continue to evaluate them on a day to day basis..." blah blah.

This is a HUGE statement coming from Saban. For him to tip his hand AT ALL just screams that the job is Gus's.

It's not like Saban would come out and say "Well, Gus is about 10 miles in front of AJ right now, AJ might as well pack it in." He can't say that.

To say that Gus is even "a little ahead", especially when he followed it with "in terms of what we want to do on offense..." is huge. The battle is over. Gus has won.

Youre looking a little too much into the statement. Of course hes a little ahead, theyve been saying Gus has been a little ahead because of the fact he is a vet and a vet of Linehan's system. However I do think he'll get the job.

Look at my previous post. It's quite obvious.

You are not paying attention enough to Saban's past remarks.

I know for a fact that the week before the Bears game Saban said Frerotte was "a little ahead" based on his knowledge from his offense.

Now I do believe Gus is pulling away, I believe that. But the way people have been bashing Feeley the past few days, I would love to see him get another shot and light it up.

Maybe ... if he only said "a little ahead" then maybe he's saying to try and put a spark into AJ and have him try to elevate his level. If AJ can't raise his level to compete, then he's not worthy of the starting spot.
