Harbaugh would “love” to coach the Raiders !

Holmgren is sniffing it out too.

On Sunday, we reported that former Packers and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren visited the Raiders last week, and that he could end up being the next coach of the team. Appearing Monday on KJR radio’s Mitch in the Morning show in Seattle, Holmgren confirmed both aspects of the report.

“Yeah, I did go down there,” Holmgren told Mitch Levy. “A couple of years ago, I had met with [owner] Mark [Davis] about possibly working with the Raiders, and it didn’t work out. . . . And [G.M.] Reggie McKenzie did work with me in Green Bay for many, many years. So I do have a relationship with him, those are all true. So they phoned me up, I went down there for a day and looked at some film. They had the bye after the London game. And just to float some ideas, and get another opinion of the team and what was going on. No jobs were discussed. Nothing like that, it was more just a pop in and pop out, and that’s what I did.”

A big thing for Harbaugh is keeping his family happy, but his oldest son (who was a freshmen in college when Harbaugh left Stanford) now is on Baltimore's staff, and his wife either was about to have a baby or had a baby just before he took the 9ers job and his other kids were young. Now they're rumored to be more open to a move out of the Bay area, but again based on rumblings, if Harbaugh leaves the 9ers and doesn't take a year off he's either Oakland bound or Michigan bound.

As for Mike Holmgren, he didn't have success in Seattle until he was stripped of his GM power and his short run as the guru in Cleveland (Where he insisted on having to run the WCO and would not consider any coach that didn't want it) was a disaster as well. I get that he wants to make up for the poor end at Seattle and his Cleveland time, but unless they get a great GM in there, Holmgren is not the guy to fix that ship.

If we do end up doing a coaching change, I would prefer a guy like Dan Quinn from Seattle over Harbaugh...seems Harbaugh isn't an easy character to get along with and the last thing we need is another divided locker room.

There you have it folks! The guy is a Bay area guy and want to stay there and raise his family so lets kill all the Harbaugh to Miami...

He's under contract through next season, so this only matters if Oakland is willing to trade for him.

whatever happens Philbin is nothing special as a coach, he proved that last year when we crapped the bed two weeks in a row against less than stellar teams.

Sounds like a great plan to me. (minus the ridiculous Gruden speculation)

I'm hoping Philbin & Co. lead us to the playoffs and we can squash all this head coach mumbo jumbo.

If we get to the playoffs it will be in spite of Failbin, not because of him. I don't care if we make it to the playoffs or not, we need an upgrade at the HC position.

I hate it when people are not mobile, it feels like slavery. I had a great chance to go and work in Dubai in 2003 but because we just had twins in 2002 I had to say no. Boy do I wish I still have that chance now.

The veritable "a league source says"...opinion...nothing showed Harbaugh said it, just that it was the opinion of the source.

You mean like Shula?? Getting along with the head coach should be a non issue. As long as he can lead it doesn't matter that everyone likes it. There has to be a leader and trying to please everyone is not leadership. Ya think BB gives a rat's behind if everyone likes his decisions??

No, not like Shula. Stop with that asinine comparison. The massive difference is that Shula demanded respect regardless of a "likeability" factor. Players apparently don't have that respect for Harbuagh and many consider him a goof. Nothing like Shula. Gross analogy.
