Harbaugh would “love” to coach the Raiders !

Why would Hickey hire a HC who doesn't share his vision?

Was Jeff Ireland allowed to hire a HC that shared his vision? If so, Mike McCoy would be in Miami. Steve Ross is the master of the shotgun marriage.

Dennis Hickey is NOT going to be given the keys to the franchise if they fail to get to 9-7 or better this year.

I'm really not sure why everyone wants to line up and suck
Harbaugh's crank. I'm not a fan anymore, I hope he gets the Raiders job, he can languish there for all I care.

You want to know why Miami has been a ****ig train wreck for ten plus years, look no farther than the top. You have a coach that is 2-2 and a team that's finally getting healthy and what's the headline?? Ross wants douchebag coach to replace Philibn. I'm not sure if Philbin is going to make it but **** Harbaugh let him go to Oakland and deal with the bull****.

I appreciate Harbaugh because he acts on the sideline like I do when watching games.

The most important decision in a franchise is GM.
If we have found our GM it would be short sighted and stupid to fire him and start from scratch.
If Dennis Hickey was named Tom Donahoe, Jason Licht, or Pat Mcloughan no one would be having this conversation.

We would be banging the drum to let our GM get his guy.
The only reason we are having this conversation is because Hickey was a relative unknown.

The fact is the guy has had a success rate on both his draft and free agents that this organization hasn't seen in ages.

I do not disagree that Dennis has done well in his short time. IF, IF, IF you want to double down on Dennis Hickey, Steve Ross MUST get out of the way and let Dennis pick the coach. However, you and I both know that will not happen.

Exactly. If any team should know better than extending front office authority to a field coach it should be us! I want a GM with a vision who is in charge to select a head coach with whom he can work philosophically and synergistically but who also has the power to take that coach to task and/or fire him if necessary. If we like what Hickey has done, then he's earned the right to have the final call on the HC. Hopefully folks like Marino will impress that on Ross.

I think that fear is certainly fair. I wasn't thinking about it from that angle.

I will say about Joe the same I say about RT…the best alternative is for RT to develop. Same thing for Joe…I hope he finds success and the team can keep building and NOT have start over.

I am not a Joe Philbin fan and people know I do not have to state that. He leaves a ton to be desired, but I am so sick and tired of starting over. I want some continuity.

With that said, Joe has to do his part and get this team be consistent and start stepping up in big spots. Be a reason this team wins.

Here's my thing with Joe Philbin: I think Joe Philbin understands how to win football games. I think that based on the things he has said, and what his players have parroted, Joe understands the winning formula much better than most coaches. He understands that it's a game of systems and percentages and you want to play the system that wins most of the time. I think that the hire of Bill Lazor indicates that Joe Philbin absolutely gets what wins football games, not on the conventional meathead wisdom level, but on the actual, empirical, analytical level.

Joe just doesn't seem to be good at, you know, actually coaching.

Joe just frustrates me so much. I cannot get over some things he does, but if this team got to 9-7 and no playoffs, I would totally bring him back.

I don't care if we win 11 games and the wild card round. If Jim Harbaugh is available, I go get him. I realize that's going to infuriate some people here, but it is what it is.

Great coaches don't grow on trees and when you have the rare opportunity to steal one because ownership thinks it's more integral to team success than the coach, you do it. Of all the franchises in the NFL that should know this, it's us.

I'm a fan of winning. He wins. I couldn't care less about his personality so long as he's winning. I'm not going golfing with the guy (though that would be hilarious).

Sparano was a terrific guy. Very nice. Too bad he was a **** coach. Same with Wanny.

I think this is reasonable read of the Philbin.
I think his gameplanning and adjustments are sound.
He seems tone deaf to the players at times.
He isnt some sort of coaching savant, but with time the communication and respect from the players will grow.
A lot of the coaching thing is minimized by the fact that he delegates to the assistants.

The team will decide Joe's fate probably in the next four games. If the team is 2 and 6 or 3 and 5 at the halfway someone like Harbaugh might be hard for Ross to resist. I like Joe and hope he has it in him to motivate the players but from all i've seen probably not. Possibly Lazor can do it for him. Not the perfect situation but i'll take it rather than starting all over with a new guy.
Hickey does not seem like a big ego guy and would probably stay on under a big name coach if asked.
Can you imagine Hickey and Harbaugh ? They seem like exact opposites but who knows >
