Wallace didn't make (relatively) much last year, he won't want to reduce that $17 million for 2014.
I would just leave that alone, there is plenty of money spend even with it. Also, the way his contract is structured he can be cut (again relatively) pain-free after next year.

That's how I feel. Why tie up more guaranteed money in a guy when half his contract is already guaranteed

I only watched a couple Auburn games and he was running over defenders when he was not out running them . Maybe not a true "power back" but compared to Miller he is.
At 5-10 / 205 no he's not the 3 yards and a cloud of dust guy for sure.

If money was tight, maybe it's a different story but they way things are set up its better to get the guaranteed money off the books now.
One guy I would try restructure is Patterson. if he can stay healthy he is a quality player, I would give him a chance to do it at a much lower number.
 
Are none of Yeatman, Arkin and Watkins worth keeping? I agree we need to get rid of guys that don't suit ZBS and getting rid of Martin, Incog and Jerry are all no brainers, I would just like to keep some of the guys we had last year. No point in having pretty much all bar Pouncey and Brenner replaced. As for the rest pretty much agree although I'm expecting something from our rookies of last year at CB and Nolan Carroll isn't too bad. Wheeler I wouldn't cut just yet.
I'm beginning to expect quite a bit of turnover this off season.
 
If axiom Jordan can improve as a pass rusher then our whole defense will improve. Pass rushing is probably the best attribute a defense can havel unless you have 3 Revis's as your corners and a couple ed reeds as your S.

Adding a player like Byrd would only improve our already great pass D..

IMO Byrd should be a top target..
 
Great approach to address the problems, Hayden. If Soliai wants too much, I think we let him walk. I hope that his expectations are more modest but I doubt it.
We have invested a couple of years in Yeatman without a return. I would like to resign him before giving up. I'm also curious in what Watkins can do. He could be available for a relatively low $ amount.
We agree to disagree re the Coach and Aponte, but on player personnel matters, I consistently agree with your logic.

Keeping M Moore is important this year for insurance , and because RT LIKES HIM. End of story.

Cutting Wheeler is foolish for anyone with any understanding of math. Cut him, and pay the same as if ya don't. I want that deal. lol

Wallace can re-structure IF need be. We would just be moving some of his guaranteed money a year or two, and my have to give him a bit more guaranteed to do so. No matter what he is gonna get his money.

For me, re-sign Clemons, Carroll, and Yeatman (depending on his injury).

I understand that financially it makes sense to keep him, but would he start? Probably not. I would rather let a young player with better toughness and instincts play in front of him. I guess he could play special teams..

Who is this young player with better toughness and instincts you speak of? I have not seen him on our roster.
