Ho Ho Ho!!! Phins Pass Blocking Not As Bad As Many Think

I dont understand why people cant see when watching the games that our large number of sacks given up stem from BOTH.......

VERY POOR blocking by the OL AND the QB not being very skilled at avoiding rushers. I dont understand why people think it has to be one or the other. In fact, both the stats and the game tape demonstrates clearly that both are an issue.

Yes, of course there are times when the QB could not have avoided a sack even if he were the best in the league at avoiding them(probably Romo is), but that dosent mean our QB is skilled at moving in the pocket or avoiding the rush. He isnt. He needs to get better at this if it is even possible to get better at.

How much do you base the OL ply on sacks, as opposed to the entire game?

I thought he moved better last year TBH.

Maybe he isnt sensing the rush better this year because as you suggest, he is trying to learn more things and has more going on in his head. Perhaps the game is just too fast for him. Maybe he is not a natural at the position and we need to get a better QB. Perhaps Tannehill just dosent have the incredible skill it takes to do everything an NFL QB needs to be able to do.

Perhaps this is just another one of your lame attempts to take a dig at T-hill. The kid will be a Phin for a long time. Get over it, you're wrong.

IMO at the beginning of the year Sherman and Philbin expressly asked Tannehill to stay in the pocket.

It's very obvious how this staff focuses on solid fundamentals over natural skill and they have proven this at all positions on the field.

That's also the reason why our rookies see very little PT. Ireland's drafting is heavily biased towards potential and physical talent.

Our coaching staff is heavily biased towards fundamentals thus our rookies take longer to hit the field but this combination has also brought us something we hadn't seen in years...

Player progression, development, in previous regimes we hit on some late picks and FA's but these usually just turned out good from the get go, with this staff you can actually see a player suck the way Carroll used to and develop into a solid player. It's also the reason why our offense simply demands perfect plays from all involved instead of relying on tricks and stunts that once on tape will be easily countered (The Wildcat).

IMO while we could have won a couple more games playing Dion Jordan and Dallas Thomas more and allowing Tanne to throw check-downs and call isolation roll-outs but the way we have handled things will translate into a better team all around in the long run.

How meaningless are numbers showing Rt being hit and hurried? :)

If QB #1 is hurried on the same % of throws as QB #2 but QB #1 is getting rid of the much quicker, do they really play behind equally good OLs? Because that is what you are claiming.

Because they tell nothing about the context.
