How can we clear cap space

Clumpy just wondering how much of a bonus and what kind of deal would you expect. Also how far under our we because remember Simon wants to be paid. He couldn't work out a deal with the Ravens the before the draft when Philly would have traded him and now he turned down a 1 year 5.19 million offer because he wants a long term deal. He is gonna still want a huge signing bonus to sign here.

I've seen numbers all over the place. Signing bonus from $10-16 million and a 5 yr deal for as high as $34 million.

Right now, he and his agent are overpricing the market. I would expect a deal that has guaranteed money spread out over a couple of yrs. Not all up front cuz signing bonuses can only be spread out for 5 yrs.

I'll predict he'll get a long term deal but it will likely be structured more like a 1 yr deal. That is, he will get up front money and a huge 2006 roster bonus to force a re-working or his release

I presently have Miami about $6 million under but that will change once the final cuts come. I do not believe Miami needs to do much to clear cap space other than releasing a player or two and just include them in the cut down to the final 53 man roster

Cap page update soon :foundout:

Now wait a minute, He turned down 5 years at 35 millionfrom Eagkes, Thats not a whole lot cheaper that Surtain

His agent said that wasn't what he was offered.

How can we be 6 mil under after signing Brown?

Do we really want to do this? do we really want to overpay for this guy. This is not worth it, we can pick up someone in the draft next year.

cause ronnie browns contract is structured in a way so hes not very expensive right now, i think his base salary is the league minimum for this year or something like that...

Ronnie Brown's 2005 cap number is only $2.7 million

$230,000 salary and $2.47 million roster bonus.

Big money kicks in next year with his $12.24 million option bonus

Miami doesn't need to clear cap space.....they are far enough under the cap to sign him

Wooooo hooooooooo I love you Clump!

What the hell did I just type?!

No but next year some serious cap decisions need to be made, especially at CB, LB, and D-Line.
