How do we feel about the Pouncey draft pick, 4 months later?

Yes, lets draft a guard in the later rounds so our offensive o-line could have been Long/?/Cogs/Carey/Columbo. Ingram wouldn't even average over 2.5 yards per carry with that line. I don't care what guard you drafted in the later rounds. We all know how all the guards in later round have played for this team.

really, so his brother good and he is just garbage. please show me some proof that that was his knock. His knock was his snapping at center. We all know this. Now that we know snapping hasnt been really all that bad, we now have to find something else to pick on.

Look, all you have to do is look at his technique. He gets low and has great balance. He is tough and almost always understands what needs to happen on a play in order to move his man to one side or the other. Samson Satele was not as intelligent.

All one has to do is consider his brother. His twin brother who is pro-bowler. They share similar DNA. Ever consider that? Of course not, it means nothing to anyone. Im sorry, people just looking for something to bad mouth this regime cus you want them gone! at all costs.

Nope not the case at all... I hope it works out... The knock on him coming out was he was not overly physical, his brother is...but most said he was more athletic. I have watched him play in 3 games..He looked pretty good in two of them..but one of those games was against a horrible front..I am not giving up on him..

we should have traded down draft the best o line, and of course we would have picked up another draft pick, but the pick that really bothers me was the thomas pick to move up and pick him, they could have drafted another rb in the 4th, hunter or jones, the draft was to deep in rb to move up and get one

nd if we traded down and took Ingram like some of you are suggesting, half this board would have blown up when the Steelers traded up and drafted Pouncey. Half of you guys would be saying "Thats why Pittsburgh made it to the Super Bowl last year, while Miami is stuck playing with a corn-fed linemen that no RB can run for." Not to Mention Pittsburgh drafted Pouncey at 18 their super bowl year...Even though he was injured.

Steelers were not trading up. That report was made up by a random reporter. Peter King called the Steelers GM, the Redskins GM, and the reporter who made the initial claim. All denied it and the reporter even wrote an apology article.

If I remember right the FO wanted to trade down in the 1st but had no trade partners. I'm fine with the pick then and I'm fine with it now. What I don't like is trading back into the 2nd and not taking Mallett.

I would have still preferred up to trade back we could have had Ingram, Mallett and a pretty good guard/center avaialable at the top of the 3rd round.
There is no DOUBT though that the offensive line is the wink link so Pouncy should have a impact which is what you want of your first rounder. He has played well but may need to moved to a pulling guard to help this team more.
So far so good as drafting a center that high in the draft goes.

One repercussion of the pick is it seems to have handcuffed this FO from bringing in one of the FA centers which could have helped the line immensely. Now I don't know the first thing about grooming centers, maybe if he starts his career at gaurd he'll be a guard for the rest of his career? If thats the case I can understand them not bringing in an experienced center and moving him to guard, although it'll probably cost Sparano his job.

One of the things that Miami has struggle with and In my opinion is the ability to play against very good nose guards from the center position. Pouncey has done as expected from what he was worth. He was worth a late 25 to 26 pick and would have had more value for a team in need of that position that already had many other key positions. Would you rather take a successful first round pick over a bust like Ted Ginn, Jason Allen, or such players? This is the same type of thinking that the front office had unfortunately. He has done pretty well in my opinion and is too early to stop posting critiques. Most of you are here to assault the player for the actions made by our front office.

1st Round Picks are very easy to Judge, It all boils down to 1 easy formula.

Do you have a Franchise QB?

If Yes, Select your #1 need
If No, Then select your QB, if you dont select your QB then anything else you pick is irrelevant.

So picking a QB in the first round of the NFL draft automatically makes him a franchise QB? Maybe Im reading this wrong, but if thats the point your trying to make, Im not buying it...

Yeah they have the same genes, but do you actually understand what that entails. Robin and Brook Lopez are identical twins, yet they have very different degrees of basketball ability. Sure DNA will determine the spectrum of athletic potential that we could possibly posses: but environment, personality, practice, diet, injuries are just as important. Since it is impossible for them to be identical in all these aspects, mike's genetics become irrelevant once we see the actual product on the field.

In the AFC east with a 350 lbs NT's lined up less then a foot away from the ball and you want your C to pull?

Really? Seriously?

If thats not the cast what is? Not selecting a QB in the 1st round if you current QB sucks?

Well to answer the original question, I'd say I'm hopeful. But I will say this- if by the end of the year, we don't have a minimum top 10 offensive line, then Sparano and Ireland should both be canned, regardless of record! In your short tenure, you've spent 2 of your 1st round picks on o-linemen (adding to the other one (Carey), you've spent other draft picks (John Jerry, Shawn Murphy), and churned through multiple (sometimes expensive) free agents (Groves, Smiley, Incognito, Colombo, etc). Oh, and the head coach's main area of experience and expertise? Offensive Line.

Watch all the film you want, send individuals to the pro-bowl, etc. If this line is not the absolute strength of our offense this season, it's an embarrassment and a huge waste of the past 3-4 drafts. (BTW, building an elite dominant o-line is a strategy I don't disagree with, but at some point it has to show up on the field!)
