This offense needs a LOT of playing time. Sure, they may look decent at times, but overall they're not very good. It's been taking them numerous drives until they can start moving the ball. A slow start against a good team like NE means that they'll be playing catch-up the whole game. This offense has not been ready to play at the start of any pre-season game so far.

3 quarters. Apart from the dline, this team is playing like a collection of back ups. They need to play every game like it counts.
The Keller injury hurts, but starting the season with 52 guys out of sync and so many questions is worse.

Yesterday, I was roundly criticized for saying we shouldn't play our starters for more than 1 quarter in meaningless preseason games, because of injury risk. Double the time, double the injury risk.

Now that Dustin Keller has likely been lost for the year due to a 2nd quarter preseason hit to his knee, some Finheaven posters are doubling down, and saying we should still play our starters for 2-3 quarters in preseason games, even if it means losing starters like Wallace, Miller, Wake, Grimes, etc.

So here's the poll: How long should we play our starters in our next preseason game (Tampa Bay)?

The same as we would any other ****ing year, seriously some people around here act as if they've never watched football before. Injuries happen, they happen during OTAs, training camp, preseason, regular season, postseason, SuperBowl, and off season. If you can't handle it don't watch, PERIOD

As far as playing players too long, Jason Whitten from the Cowboys was hurt during the first quarter of the first preseason game last year. Its a roll of the dice.
If you look at Keller's injury, it was bang bang and the defender hit him just after his foot planted on the ground that could happen anytime.

It sounded like Keller was going to do well for us, too bad he got injured.

This game was the rehearsal, the next game is just for the fringe players to showcase themselves for another team. You will not see a lot of the starter much at all next game.

Not quite. The "rehearsal" game generally sees the starters play into the second half to see how well they incorporate halftime adjustments. The upcoming game is the rehearsal. The last game is the showcase the scrubs game.

As much as we had already planned, Keller got hurt, **** happens

The coaching staff decides this. You got criticized because you cannot control how long our players are on the field. Injuries happen and it sucks but that's the reality of playing sports. Therefore, your poll is moot, as no matter what I put, in the end, the coaches will play for as long as they deem fit. With that said, a 3rd preseason game, has the starters for the first half and part of the 3rd quarter. GO FINS!!

We can keep them healthy ALL SEASON if we start the backups inthe regular season too.

It's been a bad year for knees, and it finally caught us.
