I just want our defense to be physical because iron sharpens iron.
Unfortunately, practices arent what they used to be.

Limited contact, no tackling, starters sitting out because they are too special, more interest in working on endzone celebrations than the plays themselves....

We have a long way to go.

Right now, 2/10 and thats being generous. Things could change, will have to see them in pads.

Great question. I think it's fair to say Miami may have lost its most physical players on both sides of the ball with Wilkins and Hunt going elsewhere.

But I believe the team has become more physical at linebacker, which was a must.

Let's re-evaluate after the draft, though.

Won't really know until the games start, because IMO a lot will depend on the Coaches' philosophy. I'm hoping that Weaver will want a physical defense, since he's fromit the Ravens. However, it looks like McDaniel is a finesse guy, so I don't expect him to want a tough, physical o-line. IOW, Miami's offense will probably continue to be finesse and get dominated by tough defenses.
It's a good point. So much is dependent on the coaches. Remember when Dan Campbell took over as interim coach, how much more physical Miami was? Even with the same talent. That says a lot.

I want to see a team that tackles better on defense and is much improved in short yardage on offense. That's sounds to me like a playoff team with the talent the Dolphins have.

The one thing keeping Miami from truly being elite is physicality. All of their losses last year they were clearly the less physical team. Yes Miami lost significant talent, But I would argue none of those players were real physical or tenacious. So based on Miami's roster right now, on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being extremely finesse and 10 being extremely physical, how physical are the Dolphins, and are they currently more physical than last year's roster?
I think Wilkins and Gink were physical ballers. All that said, I don’t know enough about the new LBs but the DBs are very physical.

Yeah miami smashed Houston 44-26 and Tennessee 38-10 in back to back weeks when Campbell took over. I can’t believe that was almost 10 years ago

Ever since Philbin became HC, I've complained how bad Miami's o-line has been. Even with three 1st round picks on the line, they sucked. Then with Gase, it was the same thing. Looking deeper into it, I thought it was odd that the same guys who did okay under Sparano now sucked as a unit under Philbin. My conclusion was that the problem must have been Philbin's offensive philosophy, and his preference for finesse, fancy blocking schemes.

And, this same problem has continued to this day, as Flores ignored the offense and o-line, and McDaniel also wants the finesse blocking schemes. So, it is possible for good players to look bad in a bad scheme. Everyone seems to love zone-blocking, but this is why I don't want it. I'd prefer five huge maulers putting a hurting on d-lines.

I mostly agree here. But there were times last year where the offensive line was looking pretty physical. Although, to be fair, it was in spurts. Injuries obviously hurt.

Adding Poyer is a start, he played on physical Bills teams. The center they signed from Tennessee says he prides himself on physicality. But it's been a long long time since miami had a player that the opposition had to be concerned about their tenacity, since Zach Thomas?
Last tough player teams had to worry about wasn’t Thomas, he was long gone, it was Richie Incognito. The Dolphins and pansy assed Jonathan Martin ended up running him out of town!!

Well, I'm hoping for the best but drafting a guy like Worthy with our top pick would tell me everything I need to know......Worthy's fast but he's 165lbs......he's a gadget player so I hope McDaniel talking to him at Texas's pro day doesn’t mean they'd really draft him.....I'd like a bigger WR if we're drafting one......as for the OL......Fantanu or Barton would help a lot but will the team pass on this very good OL class?

I hope not.
