HUGE Pats and Chargers fans

All the jets have to do is devise a non vanilla 4 man rush scheme (stunts, delayed blitz) and we are in deep ****. That my friends is all it takes to beat Miami. Say what you want about Rex Ryan but he can definitely devise a top notch defensive scheme.

Which is why a Ravens win is helpful. Then the Bengals KNOW they need to win. ... But it looks like the Ravens are gonna lose so my scenario will be shot.

Technically the bengals don't need to win since they clinched the playoffs with fins loss. Now it's a matter of bengals getting homefield for WC game or getting a bye and home field for divisional game. I think the latter is definitely a greater incentive for them, which they'll only get that if they beat the ravens next week.

The Bengals clinched as far as the playoffs go today with fins losing so they don't need to win as far as playoffs go. The bengals now need to win, to get homefield advantage atleast for the divisional game. The Bengals are a tougher team at home so you bet your ass the bengals really want the no.2 seed, so they wll play to keep it, which they won't have that guarentte unless they win next week too.

They get home field in the first round if the ravens lose, regardless. But if the ravens win, they must beat the ravens to get home field in the first round. Get it?

Cincy is unstoppable at home. They should blow out Baltimore next week. If NE wins, Miami should get in if they beat the Jets.

so if we end up tied with the Ravens at 9-7 and they get in you still won't have a clue about the importance of the Lions game. got it.

IF we and the Ravens finish tied at 9-7 and the Chargers dont make it there, then YES of course you could say the Lions game is the difference.

That is the only way it would matter.

As much of a downer as today's game was, I will take backing into the playoffs.

ravens looking as flat as us.

And personally I think a lot of that is due to the fact that they WON an emotional game on the road on a Monday night vs. Detroit. Had they lost that game the plane ride home wouldve been full of pissed off, focused men, watching tape who knows their backs are against the wall.

INSTEAD, it was full of happy guys who were chatting each other up and perhaps even drinking.

So there is an argument that the Ravens beating Detroit HELPED us.

Again, even if the Lions had beaten Baltimore, we STILL needed them to lose one of these last 2 games vs. the Pats or Bengals in the scenario that we lost one of our last two(which we did).

It would have been nice if the Ravens just lost 3 straight, but the Lions win was against an NFC team, so it doesn't hurt as much if NE beats them.

 Dude, we need the Ravens to lose one of these last two games. Why do you care which one it is?

Why would you want them to win this week in the HOPES that they lose next week? Why not just hope they lose RIGHT NOW.

Hell, we may need them to lose both of them if San Diego dosent get it together against the pathetic Raiders.

I said it last week,
Miami would lose today, Ravens lose, Chargers win,
Next week, Miami wins, Ravens lose, Chargers win.
Miami makes the playoffs.
Just need the Chargers to cooperate (they just fumbled a punt return) and the Dolphins to get their heads out of their asses and beat the Jets.

Lol chargers muffed the punt youve got to be kidding me

Only way Cincy has something to play for next week (if the Pats win tonight) is if Buffalo beats NE in NE. Unlikely.

The Bengals-Ravens game is at 1 next week. They won't know the outcome of the Pats-Bills game because it's at the same time, so the Bengals will be playing like their game matters because it's clear the Bills haven't quit yet. There is no scenario where a Ravens win against anybody is good for us. If we're hoping for the Bengals to beat the Ravens why not hope for the Pats to beat them. In your scenario we're only getting one loss out of the Ravens which is all we HAVE to get. All the Ravens winning this week would do is make us root even harder for San Diego. The Ravens losing this week gives us the greatest probability of making the playoffs because in addition to our win our playoff scenario switches from Ravens lose AND Chargers win to Ravens lose OR Chargers win.

i'm sorry i bit your head off, just pissed. looks like if we beat the jets and the bengals beat the ravens we're in anyway.

There are a few lost people in this thread, but that guy you quoted is struggling the most.

I cant understand for the life of me why he would want the Ravens to win this game just so the Bengals would have more incentive to beat them next week.
