Hurricane Irma Only thread

New advisory has a St. Petersburg hit instead of Tampa. It's possible that Key West will shift Irma even more West which puts that possibility in play.

If that happens.... More west = riding up the coast and picking up strength it seems.

I don't want to jinx anything but not a god damn thing has happened in Doral. I'm very happy about this.

Hunkered down over here in Clearwater. Hoping for the best prepared for the worst. Boarded up bolted down and ready to roll.

Spending the night with my huskies and my pipe. They're loving the wind tonight but they'll be in for a rude awakening come tomorrow night.

And for us 'disappointed' Eastcoasters that Irma is going to the Westcoast we can always welcome Jose who is expected to make a loop.

Yeah, I think it's still expected to head north, but worth watching. Also worth watching is the system currently forming off of Africa. The water isn't cooling down anytime soon...

Many thanks for the clarification. What little I know about hurricanes has been provided by you guys. Other than the fact that wreck a lot, knew that already.

For those of you getting smacked around by tornadoes (didn't know hurricanes generated those), don't **** around. If you have a basement, get in it. Now. If not, get in the center of you home, preferably in a room with minimal glass. Having dealt with them every year for 47 years, those ****ers are mean and they just drop with little if any warning.

Jesus guys, I am praying for you all. A hurricane is bad enough, but one that spawns tornadoes is horrible.

No basements here unfortunately. I hope to never experience a tornado. They sound terrifying.

I hear it managed to pish itself up to a cat 4 again overnight :/

From the outside looking it, it seems like Rick Scott is doing a pretty good job so far

Where does one begin ...

Have even seen his actions being been praised by things like the Washington Post, hardly a republican publication. I could of course be wrong though, as I said its only the outside looking on, but it would have been nice to see a state leader handle an event like this well for once

Anyway, not the time or place for a debate. Was just pleased because it looked like a crisis had some leadership for once but perhaps not.
