Ft. lauderdale is finally at a similar latitude as the eye. Still have a whole second half of the storm to go but at least we are out of this "dirty sector".
I just read on google news that a 2nd crane has collapsed In Miami do to the winds. Imagine if Miami would have taken a direct hit. I'm sure authorities wont allow residents back until its safe again. The police are also warning people to stop shooting bullets into the winds. Sounds like it's nuts down there. Edit: the story that google news is reporting about a 2nd crane collapse is from the Miami Herald.
The problem was they said it would take a few weeks to properly remove onsite so they invested their time in securing to th best of their abilities.
Seriously I hate Brickell because it literally is a construction zone. Terrible to drive in. My wife is a project accountant for one of the biggest construction management companies in South FL and has several Brickell accounts . . .she knew this would happen and also knew there was no way to remove in time.
National weather service report wind gust of 131 mph in Naples, at the airport. As I watch the news, you see the ocean just engulfing Naples. It's only just begun as the eye is now over Naples.
