I apologize to these Ricky haters

Man, ... please, stop with the "second chance" stuff. He's had 2 fresh starts in N.O. & Mia, 3 flunked drug tests, 4 preg moms ... A chance to rejoin the team without a suspension ...

I'm dealing with him being on the team because I have to, but don't make excuses for him.

I dont' recall making an excuse for him. But this is a second chance. He didn't have a "fresh start" in N. Orleans. That was his first pro team. Just because New Orleans traded him doesn't make it a second chance. His personal life has ZILCH to do with football. He can sleep with whoever he wants to. It may be morally wrong...(but I do believe we've all engaged in that. Most of us without making babies) but it has nothing to do with the team.
YES, he flunked the drug tests. This is part of WHY it's a second chance. Rumor has it he has quit smoking marijuana. If he has, great. If he hasn't, then he'll eventually blow his opportunity to make his FOOTBALL wrongs RIGHT. That's what this is all about.

Cheering for the Dolphins is what this is ALL ABOUT. It has nothing to do with RIcky Williams. It has to do with the Miami Dolphins and who can help them beat teams like New England, Buffalo, NY Jets, etc. Noone is thrilled with what happened last year. But we should be thrilled that we have Williams the ATHLETE on this team. He deserves a second chance. If he screws it up, it will be his last chance. Let him do with this chance what he will - but hopefully it will benefit the Dolphin in a big way. I think that it will.

A second chance?

If he gets anymore chances he'll be able to change his damn name to Steve Howe!

Call it what you want. Too bad for all you Ricky haters. He's coming back. And EVERY ONE OF YOU WILL BE CHEERING win he busts off huge TD runs.

Whatever. Your rationalizations are not convincing anyone on this side of the fence and it doesn't matter because Saban is going to take @$$hole back anyway. Like I said, I'm dealing with it because I've got no choice. Don't make it worse by trying to convince the rest of us there's some reason he DESERVES anything, because he doesn't.

NEWS FLASH: Everyone one of us is human. Human beings make mistakes! It’s part of life. That’s why there is something called second chances. If there were no such thing as second chances, this world would be waaaay worse than it already is.

You seem to be a good hearted person that truly believes in giving people second chances. forgive and forget seems to be your motto. It's more about the person and helping him be productive in society. I respect that. NOw, what if Ricky didn't want to play for the Dolphins but wanted to play for the Raiders? What if he wanted to be released so he could make a better deal for himself? If it's really about giving the guy a second chance, we should give him a second chance even if it doesn't benefit us, right? If it's all about helping a guy with problems, it shouldn't matter whether he plays for the Dolphins or for anyone else, right? Heck, let Ricky go play for the Pats. That would probably be the best thing for him.

On the other hand, I guess i hold grudges. I'm not as big a person as you. I forgive Ricky. It's the Christian (or diety of you choice or lack thereof) to do. But I won't forget. I forgive everyone, but I don't forget. But that's just me.

This aint brain surgery its football, the man can play sign him up

After wanstoopid appointed the Colts X TE coach as OC over Trestman RW saw the writing on the wall. I dont blame him for quittin on that useless POS who was pounding him up the gut at a pace that was killing his career and opportunity for championship. Not only did Ricky save his own career but he may have saved our franchise by getting pornstache cannned with the perfect timing that brought the Nick to Miami.

Welcome back Ricky

Look, I really must apologize to these Ricky haters.

You guys can all obviously claim to be “Mr. Perfectâ€Â. All you have obviously never, ever, made one mistake in your entire lives. You guys must all be truly perfect. You guys must have never done anything wrong. Never quit a job, that in your eyes was not going well. You all must never burned bridges with friends, even family and never talk to them again. And of course, you all have never smoked marijuana!

HA!

BS!!!!!!!!

NEWS FLASH: Everyone one of us is human. Human beings make mistakes! It’s part of life. That’s why there is something called second chances. If there were no such thing as second chances, this world would be waaaay worse than it already is.

LOL, you as I was typing this, one of my friends IM’ed and was asking what I was doing and all that. I said, “Oh nothing, it seems I’m about to get into an argument with these fellow dolphin fans on a message board.â€Â

Her response: “Wow, sounds productive.â€Â

Damn, that hit me like a ton a bricks. So I wont get into all of this crap that you guys are setting up, because, ya know, I’m better than that. I have integrity. Fact is you all have your opinion about Ricky, I have mine. I know I’m not perfect, so I’m willing to forgive and forget. Since you guys are perfect and everything, I can understand yall’s point of view that mistakes cant be tolerated.

Peace out Dol-fans, gotta wake up early in the morning and go to work and be productive!
tell it like it is man!! :rawk:

This is an argument? And please stop saying that if he breaks of a big run, I will change my tune or be a hypocrite. I will cheer the Dolphins and a Dolphin running back doing well. That does not make me a hypocrite. I'm not saying he won't do well. I'm just saying I don't want him on my team. I understand you do. You might well be a bigger person than me. Then again, you might just be a whore that will like anyone that plays well for the team. I think it is wrong to sell your dignity..even for a Super Bowl. Again, that's me. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. Just the way I was brought up. Heck, maybe I'm just an uptight jerk.

I just want a Superbowl damnit!!! I've waited 33 years and don't want to wait too much longer.

I already said I'd cheer IF he does good things on the field.

I'm a Dolphins fan.

I think something that is being overlooked by the crowd that are giving Ricky the robe and crown as "King of the Runningbacks" is...

  • He has to get into playing shape. Yes, he'll be fresh from no contact for a year but doing yoga and working out is a hell of a lot different then getting your head kicked in 25 times a game. I want to see how "passionate" he is about playing again the first time Channing Crowder punches him in the mouth in a running drill.
  • He has to EARN a roster spot. As of now I'm pretty sure Ronnie Brown will and SHOULD start. Nick Saban is not going to give Brown a 12-14 million dollar signing bonus and have him sit on the bench. As of RIGHT NOW I would put Ricky third on the depth chart. A running back who quit on his team, has not played in over a year, who does'nt know the offense, who will be late to training camp AND will be suspended does'nt get ANYTHING handed to him.
  • He has to EARN his teammates respect again...because no matter what some of the team leaders say publicly I'm damn sure more then a few of them are leary of his return.
Yes, I'm on the list that is against his return...THAT BEING SAID, I'll cheer for him if he busts a 65 yarder for a T.D....he's a Dolphin. If I could cheer for Thurman Thomas when he was a Dolphin I'm sure I could cheer for Ricky.

You're right: Saban is taking him back. ANd he know more than the anti-Ricky group does. More than the Pro Ricky group too for that matter.

Honestly, what was the point of writing this? Dropping your contractual obligations, family, and responsibility so that you could go cruise Asia and smoke weed, lets not forget rock out with Lenny Kravitz is not something a mature, responsibile adult does and it's not just a simple life mistake. People have to own up to making sh*tty life choices. If everyone was allowed such an easy pass, nobody would own up to anything. People would break contracts, screw each other over on a routine basis.

This was not some situation where he showed up late for work or called in sick one day. That could be termed a "simple mistake" or "bad choice." Take note to all the devastation which ocurred post-Ricky's random retirement. He put himself in a position where so many people depended on him, his family number one I mean how many more out of wedlocks kids is this man going to have???? Is that another "simple mistake" or is that a man who's making poor choices when it comes to his personal life? Luckily the court system is there to enforce gentlement like Ricky into paying child support, otherwise I don't think Ricky would come thru. Second were his teammates and Dolphins organization. The WHOLE thing collapsed, or did you not notice that? He knew this full blown, that he was that MEGA important. If for some odd reason he didn't, it's because of the fact that he's never been mature enough to own up to the figure he has become. If he doesn't want that kind of responsibility and does not want to be chastized, then don't work in the NFL...........that way when you want to make such scared, selfish decisions you won't have to worry about p*ssing off the masses.
thats all his choice who the hell r u to tell him what to do with his life. im sure he doesnt care about you.
