I'm a Dolphins fan.
I think something that is being overlooked by the crowd that are giving Ricky the robe and crown as "King of the Runningbacks" is...
Yes, I'm on the list that is against his return...THAT BEING SAID, I'll cheer for him if he busts a 65 yarder for a T.D....he's a Dolphin. If I could cheer for Thurman Thomas when he was a Dolphin I'm sure I could cheer for Ricky.
- He has to get into playing shape. Yes, he'll be fresh from no contact for a year but doing yoga and working out is a hell of a lot different then getting your head kicked in 25 times a game. I want to see how "passionate" he is about playing again the first time Channing Crowder punches him in the mouth in a running drill.
- He has to EARN a roster spot. As of now I'm pretty sure Ronnie Brown will and SHOULD start. Nick Saban is not going to give Brown a 12-14 million dollar signing bonus and have him sit on the bench. As of RIGHT NOW I would put Ricky third on the depth chart. A running back who quit on his team, has not played in over a year, who does'nt know the offense, who will be late to training camp AND will be suspended does'nt get ANYTHING handed to him.
- He has to EARN his teammates respect again...because no matter what some of the team leaders say publicly I'm damn sure more then a few of them are leary of his return.
It isn't about loving RW the person. I don't know that ANYONE does in that aspect. But it's about US, DOLPHINS fans, collectively cheering while we're watching our team beat the ^&$#% out of another team, regardless of who is being used to do it.
