I apologize to these Ricky haters

I already said I'd cheer IF he does good things on the field.

I'm a Dolphins fan.

I think something that is being overlooked by the crowd that are giving Ricky the robe and crown as "King of the Runningbacks" is...

  • He has to get into playing shape. Yes, he'll be fresh from no contact for a year but doing yoga and working out is a hell of a lot different then getting your head kicked in 25 times a game. I want to see how "passionate" he is about playing again the first time Channing Crowder punches him in the mouth in a running drill.
  • He has to EARN a roster spot. As of now I'm pretty sure Ronnie Brown will and SHOULD start. Nick Saban is not going to give Brown a 12-14 million dollar signing bonus and have him sit on the bench. As of RIGHT NOW I would put Ricky third on the depth chart. A running back who quit on his team, has not played in over a year, who does'nt know the offense, who will be late to training camp AND will be suspended does'nt get ANYTHING handed to him.
  • He has to EARN his teammates respect again...because no matter what some of the team leaders say publicly I'm damn sure more then a few of them are leary of his return.
Yes, I'm on the list that is against his return...THAT BEING SAID, I'll cheer for him if he busts a 65 yarder for a T.D....he's a Dolphin. If I could cheer for Thurman Thomas when he was a Dolphin I'm sure I could cheer for Ricky.

It isn't about loving RW the person. I don't know that ANYONE does in that aspect. But it's about US, DOLPHINS fans, collectively cheering while we're watching our team beat the ^&$#% out of another team, regardless of who is being used to do it.

This aint brain surgery its football, the man can play sign him up

After wanstoopid appointed the Colts X TE coach as OC over Trestman RW saw the writing on the wall. I dont blame him for quittin on that useless POS who was pounding him up the gut at a pace that was killing his career and opportunity for championship. Not only did Ricky save his own career but he may have saved our franchise by getting pornstache cannned with the perfect timing that brought the Nick to Miami.

Welcome back Ricky

Is this why he quit? Or was it the 4th failed drug test? Or was it that he wanted a new contract? Or was it because he lost his passion for the game? These are all reasons that Ricky gave for leaving the Phins. Is this the reason that you truly believe, or is this the easiest reason to justify? Is this the reason that doesn't hold Ricky personally accountable for his actions? Believe me, I was glad to see Dave go and was baffled like everyone else with his OC decision. I just wonder why RW supporters (generalizing here) always stand on THIS reason.

To your last point. Are we to applaud Jay and AJ for their interceptions? Are we to cgratulate our O-line for missing blocks and giving our QB no protection? Is Randy Mc a hero cause he dropped passes? All of these also helped us get rid of Wanny. Shouldn't they deserve the same praise that Ricky is getting for quitting? I really despise this line of thinking. Reminds me of people that steal and justify it to themselves because they deserved that money anyway.

You're right: Saban is taking him back. ANd he know more than the anti-Ricky group does. More than the Pro Ricky group too for that matter.
I just don't want to see the new coach get the big shaft so early in his career. The reason I say that is no one knows what he is thinking, or where he is going.

thats all his choice who the hell r u to tell him what to do with his life. im sure he doesnt care about you.

More brilliant argumentation. :roflmao:

I'm all for Ricky returning and have been since he left. I'm sick of being associated as a pot-smoker for doing so, I've never tried it and never will.

You forgot "find the truth".

This is an argument? And please stop saying that if he breaks of a big run, I will change my tune or be a hypocrite. I will cheer the Dolphins and a Dolphin running back doing well. That does not make me a hypocrite. I'm not saying he won't do well. I'm just saying I don't want him on my team. I understand you do. You might well be a bigger person than me. Then again, you might just be a whore that will like anyone that plays well for the team. I think it is wrong to sell your dignity..even for a Super Bowl. Again, that's me. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. Just the way I was brought up. Heck, maybe I'm just an uptight jerk.

Maybe you are uptight!! (Just kidding) Truth is, and you know it, in todays NFL, it has EVERYTHING to do with winning. Integrity is gone, commitment is gone. It all about winning now and that's really all there is to it. Said but true and we all know it. In some ways I don't want him on this team. But I can just remember those great runs and can just imagine he and Ronnie dominating the league. It may be a selfish way to look at it. Well, IT IS a selfish way to look at it. But most of us on this board are selfish in that same way. I'm not selling my dignity. It isn't mine that is on the line. I'm just a fan of the Dolphins who want to see them be successful. ANd on another subject, I think we will do very well.

You're right, Saban is about as mysterious as King Solomons Mines. But, at this point, I think we're pretty confident if RW does in fact come back, it will be with Miami at least for this season. And I think he is licking his chops at the possibilites. And there are some serious possibilities. You guys want to see our QBs do well and play efficient? Have a running game similar to the Czonka Kiick days. Even better: more speed, more power, better recieving skills. YOu name it. Call me selfish, but I'm looking forward to seeing what can happen with these two.

I'mnot going to call you a liar. But it will be hard to imagine A DOLPHINS fan NOT cheering if RW cranks off a 55 yard, game winning TD against the Jests.

Look, I really must apologize to these Ricky haters.

You guys can all obviously claim to be “Mr. Perfectâ€Â. All you have obviously never, ever, made one mistake in your entire lives. You guys must all be truly perfect. You guys must have never done anything wrong. Never quit a job, that in your eyes was not going well. You all must never burned bridges with friends, even family and never talk to them again. And of course, you all have never smoked marijuana!

HA!

BS!!!!!!!!

NEWS FLASH: Everyone one of us is human. Human beings make mistakes! It’s part of life. That’s why there is something called second chances. If there were no such thing as second chances, this world would be waaaay worse than it already is.

LOL, you as I was typing this, one of my friends IM’ed and was asking what I was doing and all that. I said, “Oh nothing, it seems I’m about to get into an argument with these fellow dolphin fans on a message board.â€Â

Her response: “Wow, sounds productive.â€Â

Damn, that hit me like a ton a bricks. So I wont get into all of this crap that you guys are setting up, because, ya know, I’m better than that. I have integrity. Fact is you all have your opinion about Ricky, I have mine. I know I’m not perfect, so I’m willing to forgive and forget. Since you guys are perfect and everything, I can understand yall’s point of view that mistakes cant be tolerated.

Peace out Dol-fans, gotta wake up early in the morning and go to work and be productive!
Great post Ricky.

You all are just jealous because you can't play by the same set of rules that Ricky Williams does. He can up and quit on his team, and then he can come right back and play because he has talent that nobody on this board has.

Nobody on this board is skilled or talented enough that they can walk away from their job with no notice and come back whenever they want and get accepted back. Nor have they been offered a special deal, just so they can come back to their job. Only about 10-20 people can play RB at the level that Ricky can. Can you say that only 10-20 people in the world can do your job? There's just no way to compare.

Hey you forgot the speedster, Mercury Morris! I just don't want him back for he quit on this team once, and left them hanging badly. The drugs are another issue of unstability that he should of thought about when he entered the NFL. I just don't think his heart is in it, and he is doing this comeback to erase the debt. All I hear so far is his agent, let's hear the sincereity in his voice. Let's see him stand up in the locker room, and tell the players, I am sorry I screwed you, I am a man that has problems that I am dealing with, and I am sorry that I left the team out to dry. Then maybe I will see some kindness come his way. I just don't think he will change, to which I could be wrong.

I just don't see the sincere I want to play football again out of Ricky's mouth, rather then his agent saying he will be there in camp in July.
