I need an answer....

Im sure you know that Bates made him the starter, not Wanny. And it is not unusual that the incumbent starter from last season at least gets a shot against the new regimes pick (Frerotte). It isnt like Saban made Feeley the undisputed starter before the season even started.

Come on tater salad, you already know all this.
You're missing the point. Politics have nothing to do with it. If Saban didn't think AJ had the talent to compete for the starting job, he wouldn't be giving him the opportunity. Why not let Sage have the reps with the first team?

And you are one of the people who have guaranteed that Feeley will be a failure so, why is Saban even wasting his time with Feeley?
Can he not see the same thing that you see so clearly?

OMT, you can stop with the name calling too. My name is inFINSible....you already know this.

Exactly........

But to KNOW whether Feeley can be "fixed" (develop/blossom), Feeley must play!
Let Feeley play (assuming he's similar to Frerotte in pre-season), and let's find out if he develops or not. If not, then we KNOW that we must draft/trade for another QB for next year!

I'm not really sure why so many people are lining up in one camp or another.

For myself, I don't care who wins the starting job.

I trust that Saban and his staff will choose the best guy.
But if he chooses Feeley, he's wrong.....according to many on this MB.

This message board isnt running the team. If we were, we'd be all over Bua who has done not enough to warrant a starting position. Butr after the hit of the year last year.. many here thought he was deserving of it.

I dont believe in saying one way or another. But Feeley has been around the league long enough what needs to be done. And if Ferrotte beats him out then so be it.

i want the best player to start. PERIOD... I do not care about our draft pick at this point.. its gone... so is that regeme.. I care about performance. Because i dont know mif anyone can possible say that Feeley is the FUTURE of this franchise.

Dont worry brother... Im sure we all want the same thing. Success... Heck.. if Berlin lights it up start him.. i dont care.. best player possible.

I think all of our qb's on this team dont really have much potential. You have to rule out the real sucky from the sucky. I think AJ and what I seen of Gus and Berlin last preason game had the most potential in order. Just to shake it up I would move Berlin to 2nd string and see how he does. I think Sage has proven nothing since he's been here, a backup at best, so he should be cut prior to season start. I have a strong feeling that we will be either taking, or moving up to take the #1 qb in the draft next year. It is a weakness, especially when you can argue over whos better and theres really no clear #1, and we could have all the weapons in the world but if we cant get the rock to them, what good are they?

No one can say Feeley is the future of this team the same way no one can say he isn't. So everytime some moron says Feeley sucks I want them to answer this question. "If he sucks, why is Saban letting him compete for the starting job?"

That's all I want to know and so far he's either too dumb to make his own depth chart or he doesn't want to hurt anybody's feelings or shatter their confidence.

Those two conclusions I have a seriously hard time reconciling with a man like Saban....

Competition makes everybody better. AJ deserves a shot. He showed some promise. Let's see if he can develop from there. That is why it is an open comp. Saban is doing the right thing here!!!!!

AJ was the incumbent starter before this season started. Had AJ already been 3rd string (were he should be), when Saban got here- things would be a little different.

Cant say I agree with that. Saban runs his team like a good businessman. He came here not knowing who would excel more, Feeley and Frerotte. And being prudent he understands that Frerotte would look better in preseason just due to his familiarity in Linehan's offense. That being said, I really like the fact that his giving Feeley a chance is thinking long-term, what's best for our team. AJ obviously has more talent than either Sage, and Brock (who doesn't).

No it doesnt. He was the incumbent starter. Because of that- he automatically gets at least a shot at being the starter again. Give me a break it happens all the time.

Training camp and the preseason is where Saban gets to evaluate players. And that is what he is doing.

Dude you ever hear of game tape? There is plenty of history on Feeley for Saban to come in and decide whether he is good enough to be a #1 QB.

If Feeley was SO SO SO damn bad, I'm sure Saban would not have wasted his time with him. That is the bottom line.

There are many people on this board who have already made their choice of starting QB, and it's not feeley...So why is Saban so far behind these people?

thank you again....at least somebody gets it....the twisting and squirming in this thread would be amusing if it wasn't so pathetic.

So, Saban is relying on where Wannstedt had them placed on the depth chart because he doesn't know any better??
