If the Dolphins wanted to move on from Tua Tagovailoa, there are not many options

It's Poupart, he's never wanted Tua.

I'm curious to see if Trevor Lawrence will get this kind of scrutiny if and when his new deal is signed.

He will to some extent but it won’t be as bad because Lawrence has the physical traits. That’s just how sports work. The physicality gifted get more rope.

Allow him to talk to teams, call his agent and give him a go ahead to get the best he can for him.

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m doing this offseason . If a ridiculous trade offer is on the table he’s gone. If there is no offer Tua becomes the first QB in the new middle class, where he belongs.

Peyton Manning threw 26 TDs and 15 Ints in his second year, he was hardly dominant. His TEAM went 13-3. And His team lost to the Titans in the first round of the playoffs that year. His team also got smoked in the playoffs in the first round the next year by Miami. Then his team went 6-10 And missed the playoffs. In year 5 he got beat 41-0 by the Jets in the playoffs. Manning finally won his first playoff game in year 6.

He threw 100 interceptions his first 5 years in the league, and had his first QB rating of over 100 in his 7th year.

Tua deserves more time. He has earned it much more than 5 or so of the bigger QB contracts have.
Peyton manning could make every throw and was only limited by his mobility, which he made up for with his football iq. The main difference for me here is that peyton actually looked like he cared when he played like shyt. Tua is mentally weak, cant handle adversity, not a leader of men.

Fields is the only interesting option but I think he’d cost too much.

I like Washington's Sam Howell. Although he's the same height as Tua, he looks stronger and is definitely more mobile. If Washington drafts a new QB, Howell might be available. Fix the o-line and get better playcalling, and I think Howell would have success with Miami's offensive weapons.

IMO, Tua is not worth a big contract, so trading him would allow the team to use the money that Tua would have received for improving the roster. With a strong o-line, running game, and defense, a team could win games with a QB like Howell, as he looks to be able to handle pressure better than Tua. Sure, he's no Allen or Mahomes, but he looks decent in this highlight video in an article on the NFL website.

Excellent point about Manning. Was going to say the same but you have captured it perfectly.

Guys in his face is why Tua stinks after his first read? More like a processing issue, lack of awareness is why Tua can't get beyond his first read without getting happy feet. Cousins and Tyreek with McD could be lethal.

Such a trash take. Yeah the guy has the highest rating in college history along with leading the league in passer rating last year yet can’t process a defense. Casual lazy fan take. Go watch Kurt Warners breakdown, McDaniel is a far bigger problem than Tua. Play designs and calls are awful at times.

Imagine McD design an offense for a Qb that's able to process and actually manipulate a defense, and not just with his eyes. A savvy, cerebral vet like Cousins could do this!

Would be figured out by week 12 and McDaniel would continue to call the same **** every play praying it would work rather than adjust.

So, when under pressure (which is a given with Miami's inability to build a strong o-line), you'd rather see Tua getting sacked than a stronger, more mobile QB who can escape and make a play?

I also believe that McDaniel is a bigger problem than Tua, but I'd still prefer a bigger, stronger QB.

Ross and Grier are stupid enough that they will extend Tua. I’m willing to bet anyone $1000 that Tua will never lead us to a Superbowl. All you Tua fans, put your money up! Tua is pure trash in critical moments.
So, if the Dolphins get to the SB with Tua, who are you going to cheer for if you have bets on the line?

Similar production? Tua won't have the same production if he's the starter next season... honestly I don't foresee him ever having the level of success that he's already had. Defenses have caught on. So yes agreed, time to trade Tua now while his value is higher than it will ever be. Cousins will be a massive upgrade!

if Grier doesn't see this, and decides to stick with Tua without legitimately exploring options, I want his ass gone! We don't need a Gm that chooses to stay in denial.
Na. Grier isn't going to admit he screwed up the rebuild. His choices are continue to pretend Tua is the guy and keep his job, or admit a massive mistake and lose his job.

short of trading up for a QB, the most realistic and cost effective option is to trade for Justin Fields. Send Tua packing to the one of 5 teams that would want him and free up that 23m. From there we move X and just like that we are about under the cap.

Fields might not be the passer that Tua is, but he has a lot that Tua does not have like size, strength, legs, big arm. If McDaniel is truly a genius then let him develop Fields and give us a QB that hasn’t reached his ceiling yet.

At this point, i rather start over with a new QB even if it means we go backwards. I seen enough in Tua to know that he can't elevate his game any further. His best months are from September-November, but when it comes to December, January games, he folds under pressure. His arm is shot by December and he panics way too much when it's crunch time. Lastly, you have to limit the play calls since we can't do any QB sneak or bootleg options since he can't be touch, otherwise he can get hurt rather easily.

My counter would be to judge him based upon his body of work as a whole
The last bunch of games michigan leaned on run game tho and which he didn't generally pass much or many yards. Even college qbs who end up just being decent starters in the nfl, usually pass more yards or more a focus in the college team's offense
