It takes a while for a CB to adjust to the NFL. Sometimes they do it quicker than expected, but a rough rookie season is not at all uncommon. We threw him in the deep end and he failed ... to the tune of grading the worst CB in the NFL last year by PFF grades. But, he was drafted as a raw athlete learning the position, and it's not a surprise he struggled. Doesn't mean he's not going to eventually succeed. These snippets of hope merely reaffirm what we already knew ... that he is an athlete. The question is whether he can become a good football player. Remember, it took Xavien Howard a little time as well. X probably would have been good by the end of his rookie season if he hadn't gotten hurt so many times, but he eventually got there. Iggy is probably a guy who X sees a lot like himself ... great athlete working on honing his skills to realize his high potential. Let's all hope X is right and Iggy comes good on that potential.
Tis the season for optimism!
