I'm beginning to believe that Watson will be traded!

Another lynchpin of the organization is quite possibly on the move. Why is he staying? Give them Tua and the 18th and tell them happy 2021. That's the best offer they will get.

I want the contract reworked as well to prevent this type of diva nonsense as well. Then ok, make the trade TUA + 18th, not a penny or 7th rounder more.

Watt was always going, this has zero bearing on anything. They are projected $17.5 mill over the cap and he is a $17.5 million cap hit that will incur zero dead cap if traded or cut prior to June 1. With his declining performances and his injury state, it ridiculous to think he would be back on a team that is clearly years away from competing

Ironically if they did trade Watson, they would incur at whopping $21 mill cap hit !! So trading him forces them to not only cut Watt but also cut a few others.

So we are basically looking at these two options:

A. Watson minus Tua and at least two firsts and two seconds

B. Tua plus keeping our picks

This simply depends on how much trust they have in Tua. They must have liked him alot to take him 5th overall

Watson is better than Tua, right now. But Tua is on a rookie deal still while Watson will command a kings ransom. His contract AND trade value would be astronomical. Do you handicap the future of the team to improve one position now?

Looking at it from a F.O. perspective; we jettison some quality players to change the culture, free up some money, and stockpile draft picks. Then, we can either trade away more quality players and the draft picks we've acquired to qualify to pay the most expensive contract we could to a proven QB.

Coach Flo is going to his 3rd OC in as many years and now is trading away the former 5th pick that he and Grier felt was better than the rest. That, to me, would signal the end of the Grier/Flores era.

If they want a proven QB that wouldn't cost Tua, look to Green Bay. Tua could still grow into whatever new system is installed and we wouldn't have to mortgage anything.

The situation is really deep and we can expect hear about all the dysfunctions on what management has done. It was already reports that he asked the Texans to interview Robert Saleh and they didn’t interview him. This has glowing reviews around the league and the didn’t even make an attempt.

Could it be with Watson being such a mal-content, that the Texans figured any really good HC candidate would not want him on their team.

They probably assumed that if they keep Watson (which I think is probable due to his contract), they would need to go after a less sought after HC candidate, and since getting a good head coach is often a crap shoot anyway, why not look for a gem in some less sought after candidates. Sprinkle that with a few of the more sought after HC candidates the Front Office really loves, no matter what, and you've got the Texans current situation.

If in taking this approach, Watson cries louder on social media, possibly one of the Texans favorite HC candidates will consider joining the team if they promise to bring in a new QB with their highest draft pick. That way they can hold onto Watson for one more year and see what happens.

If Watson holds out, that will help their cap space. If he plays half-assed football, they can bench him and use their newly drafted QB. If he wakes up and plays well, his chance to be traded the following year will be more likely. Who knows, he may even find out that he isn't worth as much as he thinks he is.

I'm sure he will screw up any potential for a good professional relationship with the new QB candidate. He is a cry baby with a big mouth and he wont be able to stop himself, which ironically, will be just what he is doing.

Next year will be a rebuilding year for the Texans with a new HC and with or without that cry baby Watson. The Texan's Front Office and Ownership know this. The new HC will know this. Watson doesn't seem to know this. He is not being kept in the dark, he is wearing blinders. He is not being lied to about being involved in selecting the new HC. He just does not realize he is not part of the Front Office and any opinion of his, or any other key player, would only be sought after the Texans Front Office reduces the field to 2 or 3 potential HC's.

If all this turns out to be true, then I will have a much better opinion of the Texan's Front Office.

If I'm wrong, the results will still be interesting and probably hilarious for everyone not a Texan's fan.

Based on repeatable factors, Miami was more like an 8-8 team, and I do think Miami needs more than just Watson to actually contend, but it wouldn't need as much.
Thats very fair IMO. I agree that the Fins record is heavily inflenced by their TO ratio in 2020. While I think the INTs might not take that much of a hit if Howard is still on the team next year. A dip is still likely. Thing is the Fins were top 5 in the league at fumble recovery and bottom half in losing fumbles. That is very likely to regress to the mean. So given the fact that this team was heavily carried by the D this year, its reasonable to project 8-8 as a more robust outcome.

As for the 2nd part, this is exactly the equation that needs to be figured out... And depends heavily on how Watson plays his cards... The team wouldnt need as much, at least short term with Watson playing QB, they have to solve how much less would they need and can they still do it after giving up the assets to secure him... Is the offense(and the team ultimately) as a whole better with Tua + 2-3 other top 50 picks on rookie contract on the offense or with Watson and FAs/3rd-5th round(or whatever asstes are left after the trade) rookies.

No, he wouldn't, because again you are forgetting a key thing ......he's a top 5 QB talent in the league and is 25 YEARS OLD!

He'd have a laundry list of teams wanting him, and would probably even get more money.

Jamal Adams, Josh Gordon, and Antonio Brown agree with me.

Probably not the best players to ask for a recommendation from.

if there's a chance you can swing this trade, you absolutely do it.

people are really doubting Watson's drive? As Randy Moss said, the days of shut up and play are over. He should be pissed.

If those same people questioning Watson saw our GM burn assets and dish out disrespect like they do in HOU, they would be outraged.

Your the vice president of the "eating crow club" for a very good reason.

Have you figured it out yet? - LOL

Noted, But the Texans Opened a can of worms, if they actually did say They'd seek Watson's Input on GM and Head Coach. Now Wilson is doing same, wanting to choose OC for the Hawks.
I totally get the QB having a say in the Players....Not the Brass. I Honestly think Watson just wants out of Houston, no matter what it takes to get out. Texans are a lonnng ways from being a threat....but can get better fast, if they get the Farm for Watson.

They Will...I Just Hope It's Not From Us

Probably not the best players to ask for a recommendation from.
I was making a point of different players with different types of "issues" that got/get plenty of chances or what they want.

This...Also do you REALLY want a Guy who thinks he is the QB/Coach/GM wrapped into 1?
All im saying is Deshawn seems to be the type who wants to micromanage his situation and we all know from experience that does not work well in Miami.
Landry ,Minkah , Drake and all the other who wanted a say are Bye Bye

Ill stick with Tua ...add weapons like Smith and his teammate at RB then take my chances
You couldn’t be more wrong bro. He is not that at all. The FO asked him for input. When he gave his input they completely ignored it. He didn’t go to them and demand anything.

Deshaun Watson has no plans to be with the Texans anytime soon, per report

Watson is reportedly just as angry as ever with the Texans organization

ESPN's Chris Mortensen said on Saturday that the situation with Watson and the Texans is in such a bad place, that a source
told him the only thing that would save this relationship is if the owner fired himself.

So Deshaun Watson might need to fire owner Cal Mcnair?? :nah:

Could it be with Watson being such a mal-content, that the Texans figured any really good HC candidate would not want him on their team.
Is he a mal-content, or is he unsatisfied with the direction of the team?

Dolphins need to reach out to Deshaun -- not the Texans. Tamper. Get in his head and tell him to make it even worse. Force his way out and tell them that he'll only sign off on a trade to the Dolphins.

Chris Grier should consult with Pat Riley on how to make this happen.
