It's impossible to predict how many games we will/can win. There are just so many variables that go into every game that it's really just foolish to say "there's no way we go 10-4 in the rest of our games." I don't think we beat the Patriots in foxborough either, but that's why you play the games.
1 Loss is enough to warrant their firing? Really?People complain that Ross has made us a national punch line, yet you want to fire them after 1 loss to a team that, quite frankly, is in the top 3 in the league?
I'm not telling anyone to bow down to Sparano and Ireland and everyone else on the team... I'm simply saying give them a chance. I'm by no means a huge supporter of Sparano or Ireland, but I'm willing to give them more than a game... It's impossible to draw conclusions about how good or bad this team will be this year after 1 game. If we look the same as we did last night at the bye week, then we may be looking at a clean house scenario. But there is a lot of football to be played between now and then and a lot of you are just down on the team after a tough loss. I think this Sunday against Houston will help to ease the negativity and sky is falling attitude around here. We're not going to be as bad as this board thinks.

And honestly, as often as this front office has thrown players under the bus and jerked their knee in response to a loss(read: Sapp, Benny), it would amuse me endlessly to see them fired after a single game.

If it was fixable, why haven't these same issues been resolved in year 4? Because this FO doesn't know what they're doing. These issues should of been taken care of 2 years ago. The Dolphins know they have Brady in the division...you would think Miami would have the team built specifically to beat the Patriots within 4 years.

That's not at all what I'm saying. I was on the bandwagon to fire Sparano last season. It didn't happen though. So I moved on and am giving them this 1 last chance. If we go 7-9 or worse this year, I can't imagine Ross doesn't fire them.
And I'm not going to lie, that would be hilarious if Ross decided to just knee-jerk react and give them the axe after 1 game. It'd be disastrous for us, but very ironic.
I'll take the words of the Dolphin Alumni, if they seem to think the franchise is headed in the wrong direction, perhaps being former players they see things differently than we fans do ... I bet in private these guy's don't have pretty or nice things to say about how the team is being put together or the lack of foresight of the F/O ... They have several important F/A's to sign this off season and it seems they are lally gagin around ...

Maybe one of those players would have been an upgrade but it's also a The Grass Is Always Greener mentality.
If Atlanta couldn't beat Chicago with the players they kept what makes you so sure the players they dropped are going to improve the Dolphins who lost to the Patriots. Which team lost to the better team and which team wasn't completely embarrassed, the Dolphins.
You're entitled to your opinion but in my opinion your over-reacting to being beat by one of the top 5 teams in the NFL.
As fans we hold on to the belief that our team can win but the smart money was on the Patriots. Miami winning that game would have been a huge upset and Miami losing that game doesn't mean they are the worst team in the NFL. Odds are the Patriots would have won no-matter who they played aside from Green Bay and New Orleans who would have been able to keep up offensively.
It wasn't just Brady. They played as a team on a higher level. We celebrate the hell out of a touchdown and Patriots act like it is a normal day at the office. The speed they can run the offense is impressive. And the attention to detail. Miami is not there. Marshall didn't look greatly in sync to me, yet he talks about the chemistry with Henne. The people with that chemistry don't need to talk about it, ya know what I mean. I find he makes it "look hard" to be honest. I'd like to see a lot more out of Marshall. I agree with others our secondary is a disaster waiting to happen if injury sets in. Lets see what happens in week two.

i was being a little over the top calling for the firing. im not really doing that. ill also say that sparano has clearly taken steps that we were calling for over a year ago that have been a glaring weakness of his since he became a head coach. specifically the way he THOUGHT you could win games in the NFL. and that was a joke, he had to get his *** handed to him for 2 years, and see very clearly that he was no longer wanted around here before he decided to do anything about it. for his willingness to change, i give him props. for the fact its 2 years too late - well that will be his undoing. theyve already established the track record. they already made the blunders they will not be able to overcome in the end. and weve all been over them, and we know what they are.
these guys continue to get so much wrong tho. they get all the little stuff wrong, and they want their quarterback to get it right. its a joke. they cant do it themselves. who in their right mind would think they could beat the pats with 2 corners? its fundamental. its such a joke. they had an entire offseason. and they cant even find a way to disguise coverage with all that time to draw it up. all brady had to do was send a tight end in motion. and he did it every single play. he knew when his tight ends were matched on a nickel back and he killed us.
just a really really poor job preparing for a game u have 8 months to get ready for.
im as optimistic as anybody when it comes to this team. i think they will have a good team. theyll be in the top half of teams. perhaps the bottom of the top 10, even if their record doesnt show it. but they will not make the playoffs, cause they arent going to go 10-4 outside of new england. too many holes. tons of talent, but too many holes, and this coaching staff will lose us another game. u want to prove u belong? out gameplan bb with this roster in new england and beat the jets twice. just not going to happen.
so if u think its too early to say what will happen....yeah logic seems to say its one game. but look at the facts. is this team going to go 10-4? if u think so id love to bet. u willing to bet they make the playoffs?

You guys really dont get it, do you? Its not that we lost. Its that we have had the same glaring issues all offseason and in some cases even longer and our FO is retarded and ignores it until it is exposed on national TV. They have made a ton of mistakes this offseason that lead to us fielding a team thats not as good as it could have been. Tell me Im wrong and explain why. Im all ears.

I dont see the talent youre seeing.
We have an elite WR. Our starting TE is average. Our depth is nothing special at TE. Our complimentary WRs are nothing to complain about, but they arent great players either. Our OL is attrotious. We are starting complete garbage at RT. We have no quality depth on the OL. Our QB is coming off 2 bad seasons in a row. He has looked good in the preseason this year and played well for like the 5th game in his career last night. Our RBs are a 3rd down back and a completely unproven rookie who didnt even see the field last night due to injury. Our defense ranked well last season statistically, but as I pointed out didnt face many strong offenses last season. Against a top notch offense like NE, they were destroyed. We still have a very average or worse secondary, a good DL with solid depth, and a good group of LBs but not much depth there. We have no return men aside from the 3rd down back we are using as an every down RB, but not returning kicks. We do have a good FG kicker though. And our coaching staff is a ****ing joke.
Combine all of that with the fact that 2 of the best teams in the conference are in our division and the fact that we are already 0-1 in division play, with 2 left at home and 3 on the road, I dont see how you are figuring on us making the playoffs at this point. Sure, its certainly possible. Were only 1 week in and a lot can happen. Its the NFL. But, I just dont get how you are so confident we are going to the playoffs.
