To be fair to Richie, who I'm not really a big fan of as a person, Schefter has had it out for him for a while now.
That may be true, but it misses my point. Any competent PR person will tell you the way you deal with this type of situation is by organizing a PR campaign in which your lawyer, your agent and other well-respected acquaintances publicly tell your story for you. You have to sit back and remain absolutely silent unless/until you are testifying in court.
It's unfortunate, but this is life for a public figure in the modern age.
