1) Less workload
2) No pressure
3) more $$$$$
And salary cap. In college you don't have a guy you're wedded to because of the cap hit you'll take if you cut or trade him. You can just go recruit at that position next year if your guy flops. I have feeling Saban isn't too high on how wedded he has to be to players like Chambers and McMichael.

Watch how flat this team will be today. It is because of all this talk of Saban leaving for Alabama. He should leave now and the team can assess what they have on the roster.

good call!! :shakeno:

Live in sunny Miami and coach a pro team or move your family again to go to Alabama and coach a middle of the road college team..? I think it's an easy one.

Just to be fair...Both Alabama and Miami and "middle of the road" programs. Neither are anything special, although both have some gloried past. Alabama has won more championships more recently than Miami. Other than that, there's not much good to say about either.

Coaches families move. Its what they do. For the security of 4 million over 10 years, everyone in his family would happily pick up and move.

The question is, really, does Saban want to coach in the NFL or in college?

To me, he is more suited for the college game, but he has one of 32 NFL gigs and I think he can stay here as long as he wants.

As to whomever said there was no pressure at Alabama, PUH LEEZE. In Alabama, there is bigtime pressure. Go anywhere in the state in Iron-Bowl week. Huge pressure every year. Don't lose to Auburn.

The lack of pressure is really here in Miami. He has supporters saying hes entitled to take 5 years to get this team to the playoffs, when others have taken worse teams than he took over and won divisions in one season. He gets five. There is ZERO pressure to succeed in Miami. Fins fans have very low standards and are very easy to please. Mediocrity is acceptable to many Miami fans.

I'd say if he wants an easy job, hes got one. He runs everything, hes responsible to no one, and as long as he wins 7-9 games every year, people will thank God in Heaven that hes not Dave Wannstedt.

With a 10 year contract of guarnteed money........there is no pressure!!

Totally inaccurate and ignorant statement. Because of the guaranteed money, there is HUGE pressure if nothing else to beat Auburn every year. If they can't fire him and he's losing to Auburn, his personal safety would be at risk.

Once he would get the recruiting worked out (and he would) he would only have to do two things at Bama...One, beat Auburn EVERY year. Two, win every other game and look good doing it.

The SEC ain't Miami. He won't go 1-6 in Tuscaloosa and have people on message boards still pimping him. If he goes 10-2 in Tuscaloosa, and if one of those losses was to Auburn, he'll need a security detail with him and his wife.

Ask Bill Curry what its like to go 10-1 at Bama and lose to Auburn.

To say there is no pressure in Bama is asinine, esp when here in Miami hes hovering right around .500 and he's a cult hero. The lack of pressure is here.

Uhhh, these are the same fans that throw bricks through the coach's windows with crazy remarks written on them.

That's pressure. Those Alabama fans are a little nuts. But with that kind of money thrown around, who knows? Gotta be crazy to take the job, but maybe that's the kind of "challenge" Saban is willing to take......

Exactly right.

Where does this nonsense come from? The only ones who seem to be talking about "Saban leaving for Alabama" are the fans on this board. No one realistically ever thought Saban had any interest in 'Bama. If this were his 4th year, and the team had not yet won, I can see a realistic threat of his leaving. But, no matter what he did at 'Bama, he would always feel he left a job undone at the highest level.

And boy, they really played flat! :sidelol:

The fact is, Alabama is not an attractive job. That's why they are having trouble attracting coaches. Interestingly, West Virginia (not considered one of the top powers in college football) - whom Rodriguez chose, actually has a better record than Alabama does over the past 15 years. That says something about the program.

Further, the fans of Alabama are so negative when a team does not win big - it's a poisonous, negative atmosphere.
