Live in sunny Miami and coach a pro team or move your family again to go to Alabama and coach a middle of the road college team..? I think it's an easy one.
Just to be fair...Both Alabama and Miami and "middle of the road" programs. Neither are anything special, although both have some gloried past. Alabama has won more championships more recently than Miami. Other than that, there's not much good to say about either.
Coaches families move. Its what they do. For the security of 4 million over 10 years, everyone in his family would happily pick up and move.
The question is, really, does Saban want to coach in the NFL or in college?
To me, he is more suited for the college game, but he has one of 32 NFL gigs and I think he can stay here as long as he wants.
As to whomever said there was no pressure at Alabama, PUH LEEZE. In Alabama, there is bigtime pressure. Go anywhere in the state in Iron-Bowl week. Huge pressure every year. Don't lose to Auburn.
The lack of pressure is really here in Miami. He has supporters saying hes entitled to take 5 years to get this team to the playoffs, when others have taken worse teams than he took over and won divisions in one season. He gets five. There is ZERO pressure to succeed in Miami. Fins fans have very low standards and are very easy to please. Mediocrity is acceptable to many Miami fans.
I'd say if he wants an easy job, hes got one. He runs everything, hes responsible to no one, and as long as he wins 7-9 games every year, people will thank God in Heaven that hes not Dave Wannstedt.
