Interesting take on Fins/Packers game from Green Bay media...

Yeah rule No. 1 as a journalist is to not cite sources who choose to remain anonymous - a practice that is broken WAY too often nowadays.

 that Miami paper was not real. it's almost a copy of the GB article, with a dolphins twist on it.

Nice
I am sure there is an appropriate emoticon or meme for what I just fell for but I don't feel like looking for it. Thats what I get for trying to do 5 things at once.

I'm no journalism expert but I doubt thats a rule at all let alone the number one rule. In fact, I'm pretty sure their number one rule is to protect anonymous sources, remember Deep Throat?

Funny how it mentions the Martin scandal as if it were a lingering issue. I'm pretty sure this guy is out of touch with the Dolphins.

The article is written as if the packers have played the whole year like they did Thursday night. They haven't. If they do come out and play like their last game then we will have to score 40 to win. What the writer fails to mention is we are better statistically in nearly every single area. We have a higher ranked offense, defense, run defense, pass defense, and run offense. So to write as if we will be lucky to stay on the field with them is silly.

If they play as well as they can played and we play as well as we can play then yeah they probably win by more than one score, but they have played two good games and we have played two good games, and the rest of the games that we both played were not that great. That is why you play the game. I will say this, if someone gave me 18 in this game, I would bet the farm on the fins.

Disagree.

1) LB's have actually been much improved this year, and that's while dealing with multiple injuries. Secondary also seems to be relatively solid with Grimes and Finnegan both playing decent. Certainly wouldn't call them struggling. Throw in a returning starting safety just for argument's sake.

2) While I guess you could argue that our 2, 3, and 4 receivers are relatively "average", Mike Wallace is far from your average receiver. Almost a joke that anyone would call him such. He's one of the fastest in the game, can virtually get open deep at will, and has been a pretty reliable playmaker from a number of different positions on the field.

3) And finally a pedestrian supporting cast =/= a top 5 rushing attack in the NFL. It's actually been Ryan's pedestrian 2nd and 3rd game that have hurt us more than our supporting cast. When Ryan and that pedestrian cast both sync, we've put up 30+.

A little shocked you'd lay down so quick to an anonymous, arrogant opinion coming out of GB camp.

I'm not laying down for anyone.

I'm just recognizing what I've seen so far from play against better teams.

1. The WRs outside of Wallace are essentially possession WRs so far. Hopefully Landry becomes the high quality possession WR that he can be, but the rest of that group ain't scaring no one.

2. LBs so far have been average at best. The only real improvement is Jenkins. Wheeler admittedly is playing better back at his old position but McCain is a question mark and Trusnik shouldn't see the field. Tripp? who knows. Misi another
question mark in the middle.

3. The rushing game so far is a function of scheme. Without Moreno we will struggle against top talent. See: Buffalo game.

GB will be a good test.

Hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Actually everyone this year has struggled running the ball vs Buffalo. They're currently the 2nd best rush defense with 71 yd/g allowing only 3.0 y/c and one of only two teams in the NFL so far not to have given up a TD on the ground.

If Jenkins is an improvement and Wheeler is playing better then when Misi comes back this weekend I'd say that solidifies the group. Miller didn't struggle against any team this year yardage-wise. He had limited carries in Buff and against KC. Can't argue about the recievers though, they've dropped too many balls this year.

No it sure isn't, nor are the reasons people are objecting to it. Barry Jackson does this kind of story every week, anonymous sources and all. They're annoyed because the anonymous guy is being negative about our poor widdle team and because the anonymity denies them the opportunity to make an ad hominem attack. Hence the childish stamping of feet.

That's been Barry Jackson's style for more than 20 years. On a prominent Canes site tonight an administrator all but accused him of inventing quotes from University of Miami board of trustees members because those quotes provide benefit of a doubt to Al Golden beyond this season. That site has terrorized Golden and his defensive coordinator this year, and pinned hopes on a firing. They have hinted that their sources indicate Golden is in trouble, and refuse to believe any counter version. Hence, Barry Jackson is suddenly a liar who made it all up. Obviously if the anonymous quotes support their bias, now or next month, then suddenly Jackson has the greatest sources in town.

His sources, while anonymous, can sometimes be narrowed to a small group. You would think he would have faced some blowback and denial over the decades, if it were pure invention. I don't doubt that he seasons the quotes and slant in his preferred direction.

How can you head off bullygate when no one knew what the hell was going on with martin? Do these people actually listen to what people have said and why nothing has happened in that deal except that the main guy at fault was suspended indefinitely and released?

This guy has not credibility and it certainly seems like his language focused on the negative more than the positive.

It all comes down to execution in the end. If we execute our gameplan, we will be in it in the end.

The Packers defense is not that good. They show up in spots but they can be had in the run game. I would think Lazor has something for that. If not, it could be a long season again.

If we lose in a close one, I certainly wont give up as many on here will. I just want improvement on the way to stronger season as it moves on.

definitely agree about wr's outside of Wallace being average

lbs have definitely been average, which after last year feels like HOF worthy. wheeler IS playing better, and our unit seems to be behind plays mch less often.

rushing game is a pleasant surprise and yes scheme drive but the results are there

and yea this will be a good test game

I wouldn't' say the whole assessment is wrong or completely off base....but I also think McGinn spent way to much time talking and focusing on the past.

He does not account for team that's been dealing with adjusting to a new offense....5 New lineman...or some untimely key injuries.

I get the feeling he way underestimates what this team is capable of doing if it is clicking....

I could look at Green Bay and their performances and fairly say outside of Rogers and a couple others...they look pedistrian and average at best.

Sort of what I was thinking about Green Bay. It would be nice to have 22 Superstars starting but that seems very unrealistic. Whenever I watch the packers play a good team they have a lot of trouble protecting Aarron Rodgers and their defense gives up lots of yards and points.

Being at the Raiders game was a great win and fun to feel part of a blowout. That being said, this team makes way, way too many mistakes. If we had played another team besides the Raiders in London there would have been a different outcome. I have many concerns with this team, as we all should. We shouldn't be seen as traitors if we recognize short comings. Missed tackles (linebackers) putting the ball on the field (everyone) interceptions... these things need to be fixed. In my opinion a healthy Knowshon return solves some of these ailments. It will be interesting to see if the returns this week make a difference
