Ireland is TOAST if...

Ireland is toast if he does not come out of this draft with Tannehill or Weedon...no doubt! It will be an absolute PR meltdown in Davie! Thoughts??

Not necessarily but I see your point. I think it really depends on how the rest of the draft is managed.

because the bottom falls outs as far as QB prospects go after that IMO.

Maybe Tannehill sucks after their assessment or goes before we pick.
Drafting an older prospect like Weeden might not serve them...

I think Kirk Cousins could be really special in the league. Brock Osweiler could also be in the mix.

The heat turns down on the Fins FO when the start to WIN. If Tannehill is drafted and canonized as the next "franchise QB" and he ends up blowing, the heat will be at temp that we have never seen.

Ireland is going to be blasted no matter what. There is no possible scenario that Ireland is going to be praised by everyone, it just doesn't exist. Dolfans seem to be so mixed on what they want the team to do that there will be uproar after this draft. That is a fact.

A question to those saying Ireland is toast without a QB pick or if Miami doesn't have a winning record.
Has a new GM ever been hired and kept the incumbent head coach ? Firing Ireland means firing
Philbin and thus this year will be a waste.

I think they like Osweieler. Also, have the Fins shown any interest in Cousins? He would be a good fit.

If we record a fourth consecutive losing season, then he deserves to be "toast". If we post a winning season then he deserves to stay. Who he drafts is irrelevant (as far as this argument is concerned obviously who he drafts matters in the scheme of things), all that matters is W-L....

Ireland's got Ross's attention with his "Build Through The Draft" strategy.

If he doesn't show progress ... then he's out. May take a year or two ... but I think the results will be obvious & little speculation will be needed.

Don't think Ireland has it in him ... but I'd love to see Ireland or any GM draft well ... sucking for a decade sucks!! lol

Agreed...good point. Just my opinion...but I thing Tannehill is their guy with Weedon a "plan B"

This is exactly what I am thinking. Those that expect Miami to blink and trade up to be sure and get Tannerhill, will be in for a rude awakning, Miami is staying at 8, if Tannihill reaches them, he is a Dolphin, if he isn't Miami will try to trade back and pick Weeden.

Ireland has dug his own grave...Miami doesn't have much blue-chip talent yet has little room left in the salary cap. As big of a tightwad Ireland is on one hand he overspends on below average players to leave Miami cash strapped. No room in salary cap to sign Cameron Wake who is getting robbed by his current contract. Four years on the job and the team is going through a complete rebuild...WTF?

IMO striking out on Flynn after Manning totally shunned Miami was the last straw with the fanbase. More than likely Miami will draft a QB not b/c the QB is of value but b/c Ireland has put Miami in such a bind at that position and Miami can't put butts in the seats with the roster they have now. Forced to sell the promise of a young QB being the future to save his job imo.

we are looking at another 8-8 season this yr. the only way dolphins turn corner is by beating n.e or winning div we are not ready for that yet fan need be real

I might be mistaken, but I seem to remember on this board and in the media, everyone thought he had a good 1st draft last year, (without parcells that is).. Even with Parcells I like V. Davis, J. Long, M. Pouncey, J. Odrick, from last year I like clay, thomas, gates, and wilson, I thought hhat was a good class..can't wait to see what he does this year..Kevin Burnett and R. Bush weren't bad either..so I can see he knows how to set a foundation..just need a good guard if J. Jerry can't cut it and some more impact players WR, LB.. Gates maybe that impact player that Jackson is for the eagles...didn't know gates played with a torn grion last year..so if last year's class steps up this year, we may have something.

The question is "is that your opinion or your thoughts on what you think the fanbase will do?" Personally, I don't see anything like that in his selections in this draft. What I do see is that he needs to improve the team for Philbin and see if he can draft for a coach with a different style than what he's done. He'll still have another couple of years to prove himself here, given his history and circumstances here and the new coaching regime. If he's hung in effigy for not getting Tannehill or Weeden, then it will probably be due to uninformed fans, not because of who he specifically took. The thing is, no matter how it transpires, we'll never really know exactly why he did or didn't select who he ends up taking. Maybe Tannehill and Weeden will be gone before we get a chance to draft them ?? Maybe the cost of moving up will be too high to pay. Maybe they collectively just don't think that Tannehill is worth the #8, probably won't be there for the #42 and Weeden likely won't be there for #42 and certainly doesn't warrant anything in the top half of the first. Maybe there simply won't be a trading partner ?? There are a lot of variables that go into who we select and when we actually select in the draft, not all of them would be due directly to Ireland's choice...
