Is Channing Crowder a Rick Speilman prospect?

What are you going to do to afford it, trade your food stamps for cash?

BTW that is one BIG A## mirror. And the crazy thing about it is I STILL couldn't see myself in it. I guess that means either I'm a vampire or your idea didn't work.:D

Did it drive you crazy all weekend that I wasn't responding??

Here ya go Bluefin,.... you were right Saban ws the only one who made any decisions or recomendations on draft day. Rick Speilman was somewhere getting his nails done.

Happy now, sunshine? Is your internet ego stoked well enough or do I need to tell you how handsome you are too.

Oh wait.....how about this....:allhail:

HEY wait a sec. Why don't I get this kind of treatment?? Why don't ya tell me I'm handsome too?? Nobody has said that to me since my mother said it back 20 years ago. That was good til I membered she was blind.

So the last time someone said you were handsome was 20 years ago and it was by your blind mother??

Did she gouge her own eyes out so she could say it with a straight face?? :goof:

IMO, I think it is a little hypocritcal of the media to play up Channing as this thug who gets into trouble. He got into a couple of fights at a bar, and things get all blown up. Matt Roth got into a scrap with 10 bouncers because he wasn't up to dress code. Is that damaging to his character? Where is the difference, media people?

The difference is that Channing went to a FLORIDA school. The press love to villainize kids from our schools, while folks from other states really have to do something big to make the news.

Its about the sort of classless response I've come to expect from you.

When you lose a debate you turn it into a personal attack, you started the thread champ, you posed the question, why is it when confronted with evidence contrary to your opinion you can't just acknowledge it like a man?

 I'm sorry that didn't do it for you.

Okay, in all seriousness....

I acknowledge that you found someone who's opinion is the same as yours.

:)

What I found was evidence to show that Nick Saban recruited Crowder out of High School, which means he probably visited his home as well.....three years before he selected him in the NFL draft, three years before Saban sent Spielman to watch his Pro Day at UF.

Combine that with Saban having to gameplan and play against Florida's standout linebacker two years in a row , it makes the notion of Crowder being a Spielman prospect absurd.

You're absolutely right Bluefin. It is absurd.

You win, okay?

I'll try not to start anymore threads that contribute 9 pages of discussion to the forum.

So no one is going to mention that it also doesn't take a leap of logic to assume that Rick had his eye on this guy also? Rick wasn't exactly sitting on his hands waiting for guys to make it to the draft before taking a look at them. we don't know how far rick had his scouts going maybe a kid like Crowder caught thier eye in high school also, and he said, keep an eye on this kid?

maybe without ricks scouts and research, just maybe don't draft Crowder.

So in closing you may both be right.

NO !!!!! ....she said that was an accident.

See, that wasn't that hard, now was it?? Now that you can begin to see you are wrong, you can look back at some of your other post and see them more objectively. Being wrong is not all that bad, as a matter of fact you seem to be quite good at it....or at least consistant. :D

The point Bill is this, it really doesn't matter what assumptions you want to make about Rick and how he felt about Crowder as a prospect, none of us will ever know that.........what we do know is the history Saban had with Crowder, and the respect Saban had for Crowder in not only recruiting him out of high school but in facing him twice as the opposition.

So to somehow try to credit Spielman with that selection is ridiculous. As if Saban would not have selected him without Spielman suggesting it first.

Spielman's record as the man in charge will rest on the past, it is Saban who is in charge now, if this draft succeeds or fails it will be Saban who gets the primary credit or the criticism.

No one is going to look back on this draft four years from now if Crowder flops and say "wow, Spielman really messed up that pick", that will fall on Saban.

Did anyone give him credit for that selection? I don't see where infins said: "and then rick selected him" I don't think anyone here is dumb enough to think that saban didn't make the picks. Now how involved was rick in helping, or recommending players? We won't know, unless one of those two comes out and takes credit for something. Does Saban strike you as the kind of guy to suffer fools? Do you think rick is a fool? if so where does that leave you in your opinion of Saban?

Well Bill, the title of the thread and its content insinuates or at least asks the question should Spielman be given credit for the Crowder pick?

As you said, how involved Rick was is an unknown factor, so whats the point of the thread?

What is clear is that Saban with his first four selections chose players he had firsthand knowledge of and was comfortable with, picks that clearly were not unearthed by scouts.

Regarding Ricks future, I think Saban was smart to keep the scouting department intact thru this draft, it was too late in the game to overhaul it for this draft, but again, his four most important picks were not players he didn't already know a lot about, players he admired .

I think we'll know soon the fate of Rick Spielman, I think Saban's lack of an endorsement of Ricks future in any way when he was asked tthe question speaks volumes.
