It's Philbin against the world.

The meatball & Henning did something similar to Chad & it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I hope that RT isn't as fragile as Henne.

No, if htey 'ruined' Henne, it was by having an air raid siren play any time he held on to the football for more than 2.5 seconds in practice.

That's something that they actually did.

I think Tannehill is tough mentally, and if he's rattled right now, its because the coaches (not just Philbin) gave him an ass chewing about his play. I doubt he's worried about what Philbin said in a presser. Besides, is there anyone out there that actually though Tannehill was going to get benched?

One of my co-workers from the accounting dept came to my office on Monday and asked me if it was true that Tannehill was being benched, I told him, it was not happening, and that the moment it did, that would also be the moment Philbin would be history.

Some here might have wanted change because of anger, ignorance, or hope change will light a fire and help the team miraculously start winning, but the coaching staff know better, they know Tannehill is their best chance to win each week, and the moment he is sat down, is the moment they are giving up on the season.

Philbin is right to put the heat on Tannehill. He's been garbage 4 of the last 5 games.

He's letting him know--perform or else.

Miami wins this week, they are two and two, behind the always last season imploding Bills, and one game behind the Pats which Miami will face again (granted in NE). After the bye Miami does get the Pack, but they will have a bye to get ready, and will be as healthy as they have been all season. Miami needs to regroup and take it one week at time

I hope you're right, but we have all had those type of rationalizations season after season.

Who really would be surprised if Oakland kicked our a$$e$? I know I wouldn't be, in fact I expect it.

That is total BS. Tannehill has a possible 100 million dollar contract to play for. Every player on that team is playing to keep their jobs. Nonsense. Philbin sucks but that was just a ridiculous statement.
Never said they're not playing for themselves. I merely said they have no reason to play for their coach anymore. Case in point? Brian Hartline who scores a TD only to pull off a stupid team celebration. The TD will help him in any contract negotiations although it hurt the team and possibly the coach. If they're playing for themselves and not the coach, we're screwed. You might wanna have your "ridiculous" back now...

This whole thing seems like a fait accompli. It has all the makings and outward signs of a situation that has already gone hopelessly off track and is just gaining steam until it jumps the track and crashes. I think Joe has already lost the team

Well let's put that into perspective. If Tannehill doesn't perform, the "or else" would be Philbin being fired.....and it should be noted that Philbin has put heat on Tannehill for a long time, it's not the heat that has everyone flustered. It's the fact that he won't even dignify his own QB as the starter to the media. Sure, there are a lot of people who aren't necessarily behind Tannehill at this point, but that line gets a whole lot shorter when talking about Philbin. His old man "no bs" attitude is just that, and I think everyone is getting more annoyed with it than anything else.

He has successfully pinned himself against the fan base and organization. He gets canned by week 10 if we keep this up.

Exactly right! The irony is that he, and he alone, has put himself in the bulls eye. He is the most out of touch, tone deaf leader I've ever seen. Every controversy we have seen in this organization was either created or made worse by Philbin's poor leadership skills. All of the players have turned on him now, and as I said last week, he is a dead man walking.

That may be true but you always criticize in private and not in the media. Now he has created a wedge between himself and the players, and even former players. He is done.

Eh, except he's not. I don't see the point of Philbin causing this distraction and media circus when he had no intention of sitting RT down anyway. I'd understand his ambivalence to name RT a starter if he was actually considering it but this is not the case. If he told RT that he's the starter, if RT has been taking ALL first team snaps all week, if the OC is saying RT is starting as sure as he will be the OC come Sunday, if Moore hasn't taken 1 first team snap all week (as per Moore himself), then other than creating headlines , this is an unnecessary distraction to a team trying to win a game on Sunday.

Not a good decision by Philbin IMO.

Maybe he has been criticizing him privately and it hasn't worked. Look, I'm no Philbin fan, but make no mistake Tannehill now knows he is truly under the gun. Philbin may be using media to light a fire under him. It's not an unheard of tactic by a coach.

Hogwash .Tannehill needs to grow a set , and get the job done. That's the bottom line . He's been playing like crap for a while now. Kudos to Joe for putting his foot on this guys neck and letting him know he has to improve and fast. This would have never happened if Tannehill would have taken a accountability for his play instead of throwing the coach under the bus in the first place . What did he think was going to happen? Imo If Joe doesn't come down on this guy for his play then he will really lose the locker room. Receivers are running wide open for Christ sakes.
