Jason Cole: Marino NOT impressed with Philbin's handling of Tannehill

I do feel like the problem is philbin. Tannehill has not played well but he never had the issues he's having now before this season. Philbin is just dull and lifeless and does not instill energy or confidence in his players. I really would rather see philbin axed right now and see if this roster doesn't suddenly play with a lot more energy. Also I just don't understand how they have a qb that plays better when he plays fast, and plays better outside of the pocket, yet they have not used him that way AT ALL. Like they said they were going to play to those strengths but so far it looks almost exactly how it was last year. Lets see, who was here last year and is still here this year? Philbin. Cut philbin, let tannehill play the year out, and use him in rollouts and two minute offenses. I am starting to feel like philbin is preventing his coordinators from doing the things they want to do.

I say make Dan Marino the head coach and get Jason Taylor to be the defensive coordinator. There, problems solved bitches.

At least Cole isn't being interviewed while on the ****ter which is what it looked the last time someone posted a link to him talking.

Youre complaining about Philbin but stating problems that have to do with Lazor and then make unfounded claims that Philbin must be preventing this or that. It doesnt work that way. If Tannehill is not being used correctly, it's on Lazor. Quit giving others a pass because you want Philbin gone. There's enough blame to go around.

Hate to say it, but time to get rid of Philbin at the bye week. Put Lazor in charge for the rest of the season. See what can be done and see if we can salvage what's left of the season.

Agree 100%. Although Lazor has much to prove, at least the players will get behind him as I think he is a much better motivator than the doofus Philbin. I would love if Ross had the balls to fire Philbin at the bye week. That being said it will never happen.

Joe is a bad leader and in time Marino and Tom Garfinkel will lead this team to a successful design.

Marino is never going to in charge of anything on this team, nor should he be. He has no front office experience and when he had the opportunity to get some, he quit in a day.

While I agree that Dan Marino shouldn't be in charge of things like picking players or making draft and signing decisions, the truth is that what he did ten years ago isn't really analogous.

He took the job, thought he was going to be in charge of things, and then discovered that he had no real power under a pair of inept buffoons, left a post-it-note that said "Draft this Rivers kid" and bounced.

I'm okay with Dan advising Steve Ross. Say what you want about him, but he has passion and he knows a thing or two about pro football. I'm glad someone is there to point out to Steve Ross that eating the football with 2:30 to play while down by 10 points one week, and then running the two minute drill the next week (AND GETTING POINTS FROM IT) is questionable coaching.

Philbin is a chump. The team has gotten thrashed in the first half of every game thus far. These guys don't look ready to play.

This is not anything new. It has happened in almost every game under Joe Philbin.

You seriously believe Joe Philbin is just doing things at random from week to week with regards to the 2 minute drill? Weren't the Dolphins the top scoring team during the 2 minute drills at the end of the first halves last season? You think its coincidence that the one time he did this coincided with the fact that our passing offense netted 7 yards to that point?

In this regime, Ross really NEEDS Dan Marino, and Jason Taylor. Guys that know when the owner is being snowed and are not connected to the coaching staff.
I think Dan Marino and JT to a lesser extent have already shook up this team. Philbin looks like a dead man walking and RT knows his honey moon is over.

Marino also had a TV offer at the time. That has run it's course. I think Dan wants a position similar to Elway. I think he is all in and motivated this time. Jason Taylor should also become part of the staff.

Not in charge but should have a position in Operations as at a minimum, a consultant. He brings instant credibility and knows the game. I'm confidant Dan would steer Ross in the right direction in rebuilding.

Unless Marino is involved in deciding who starts at QB i don't agree he's shaking anything up. If Philbin wins he'll be safe and if he loses he'll be fired, Marino being here doesn't change any of that. Marino may have some ability to "shake things up" if we finish exactly 8-8 or even 9-7 without playoffs but other than that Philbin shouldn't be concerned about Marino and his feelings at all.

Remember when Tony Sparano stood by Chad Henne after poor performances in his 3rd year of starting? And we all called him a fool
