Jason Cole of Yahoo: No Doubt Miami takes Tannehill

Adam Shein used to say good things about our fins.

If we choose him in the first he is a first rounder. Nobody feels he will not be drafted in the first round. I dont get the logic of people wanting to draft an interior lineman over a damn qb that most scouts see as a very talented guy. That kind of logic has lead us to three straight losing seasons

We have drafted so called elite linemen twice in the first round since this regime came into being and still tied a dolphin sack record.
I understand what has happened with past lineman, however you need to protect who ever is back there trying to throw or hand the ball off. We shall see how we are feeling after the draft with the picks that were made.

I just think that there will be more pressure for Tannehill to play sooner than later if the Dolphins draft him, and I hate to see him get rushed before he is ready to start.

We draft a QB at 8 and he should be starting in season one. If he can't beat out our current QB's on talent alone, then we should NOT draft him at 8. There will be at least 2-3 very good playmakers at the 8 spot (WR, CB, LB) that can start and play well almost immediately. IMO Tannehill is a late 1st value and shouldn't be our pick unless we trade down and get additional picks.

I'm fairly sure Tannehill would see some action sometime in year one. Might not be ideal but with Moore and Garrard he might be starting in late November early December. Wonder how much of this offense he has down already.

I think at 8 you take Tannehill. And if he's been the plan all along and he's your guy, I'm not against a trade up. Don't think he's worth it but I'd respect the decision.

I like how reporters find it to be "insight" when they write all the other ****ty teams in the NFL are hoodwinking the Fins. I have my issues with Ireland, but the Chiefs, Rams, Browns and Seahawks are just as good (or bad) as Miami.

"RUMOR" out of Cleveland and Tony Grossi tonight that Philly has offered the Browns their 1st round pick and TWO 2nd round picks to move up to #4 cause they want Tannehill.

Take it with a grain of salt. Nobody else is reporting this so while it may be legit it may be total BS too.

I would be totally shocked if the Eagles would move up that high for a project QB. I would bet that if they were moving up it would be for someone who can make an immediate impact. I think they would love to get their hands on Matt Kalil, but the Vikings will almost certainly take him at 3. I really think the heat is on Andy Reid after the way the team performed last season, so I think he needs someone to help get that team over the hump this year and a project QB would not do that.

Exactly. If Tannehill is drafted at #8, he needs to be the starter from day 1 to justify picking him that high. Its not like he would have to beat out two studs already on the roster at that position. The Dolphins need an impact player at #8, not someone who will take a year or two to develop.

Tannehill NEEDS to be the pick. Unless Blackmon or Claiborne fall, this team NEEDS to invest in the quarterback position in the 1st round.

You don't invest in a QB in the first round just to do it. If the guy is not worthy of being a 1st round pick, you don't do it. You better make sure that he is worth the investment or it will set your team back for years.

Tannehill is already proficient in Shermans NFL Offense. He can read defenses already and has athletic accurate strong throwing arm. Who cares if he sits a year? If Moore or Gerrard fail this year he may start the last few games of the year. If philly wants to trade up and grab him we can always trade down to number 11-14 pick and take weeden.

No way in hell would I take Weeden in the first round. That would be dumb and a big time reach.

I understand your thought process, but I disagree. There are several "franchise" QB's who did not start season 1, game 1. Eli, Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer. They all sat, watched and learned the NFL. I think with Moore and a new coaching staff, we may have the ability for Tannehill to sit at first. I still would think that there would be an open competition at camp and if Tannehill won the job then great, but IMHO he does not have to be a day one starter no matter where he is picked.

I also think it is funny that one of those idiots (forget which one) said if the Fins don't pick Tannehill the fans will be even more upset. That is just the typical media bull **** spin. This way if someone jumps in front of Miami, they can continue this false meme of Ireland "did not get his man". If Miami does get him, they can still call it a reach (especially if we do trade up). And if #8 comes and Tannehill is on the board and the Fins pass, then the media can continue its assault on Ireland and the Fins. If the media "experts" just read Finheaven, they would know that the hardcore fins fans are split o picking Tannehill.

But in Rivers and Eli's case, the Chargers and Giants had established starters already in place in Drew Brees and Kurt Warner at that time. They could afford to sit them right off the bat. I don't remember who the QB was for the Bengals though. But the Dolphins don't have an established QB already in place like those others did. That is the big difference.

Tannehill is drawing lots of interest. The only trade up I see happening would be with JAX as I dont see any of the other teams want to give up the chance of drafting one of the elite 6. Tampa Bay will draft richardson or claiborne and one of them will be there. Rams would take anyone of the elite that falls to them. One reason they were willing to trade with WASH. JAX is the wildcard in the whole situation.
