BTW, infinsible, that avatar is amazing. Huizenga is such a moron...
A self made Multi-Millionare that owns the Miami Dolphins is a moron. The same guy that Saban said was part of the reason he came here. hmmmm.

Whats that make you and me?

Just imagine if every move you made was under the same scrutiny you hold Wayne H to. Its really not fair.

Good insight

Yup they are all up in arms about it but look what happened when they did have access. They didn't ask crap. How about some of the more important things to ask like Bowens/Yeremiah's rehab's going. How Saban feels about the safety position which is a weakness right now. All too often they write fluff and are only interested in discord and discontent. If there is something truly wrong feel free to discuss it in your articles but sitting there with an obvious bias whining about the media policy is just lame.

Bullseye!

Good insight. It's great reading as informed an opinion as my my own. Discord and scandal sells papers and raises the media awareness of the writer that breaks the story.

Bowens and Chester's rehab, a speed WR to activate Linehan's scheme, a FA Safety to push the guys we signed, these points are crucial to the true fans but really not important to the writer. I mean, the average reader could care less. But, report that Linehan and Saban had a slug fest in Saban's office over remarks made about Saban's wife and guess what... You're on ESPN now!

If I could, I'd slap them all silly. All but one. Joe Schad. He's a good guy. But the rest are scum.

Hey your the one who got his panties in a bunch. I'm laughing my butt off right now since you were the one who got all up in arms over my opinion and telling me to let it drop.

I look forward to following up on this thread later. It's a riot.

Yeah, it's a regular laugh-fest. You don't even have the personal integrity to back up what you say; in one breath, you make an insult, in the next you're saying "oh, but I didn't mean you..." and in yet another breath, "But if you take it personally it's on you."

I'm done with you. I argue with men, not weasels who can't man up. I feel sorry for any woman who's marrying someone who can't be a man and face the world.

But I don't mean you, of course.

But if you take it personally, it's on you.

I'll tell ya what.......these hacks don't do what they're supposed to as journalists. Report the facts, gentlemen. And while you're at it, don't air the dirty laundry and sell out the people that are providing the arena for your livelihood. Maybe if we stop buying what they're writing, until they shape up, they'll get the message. You wanna feed your kids? Be an example and do your job the way you're supposed to, and quit trying to CREATE a story. A journalist is paid to TELL the story as it happens.

Freedom of speech? Yes, Saban has the freedom to speak or not speak to whomever he pleases. And if Jason Cole, Salguero, Fat Hank, LeBatard or any other South Florida propagandist doesn't like it, go into some other schmoosy business. Saban owes you nothing. Besides, they'll sell him out in a second to make a story. Think back to Max Mercy in "The Natural".......................Art imitates life!

Part of the problem is that they try to analyze the situation in their writing, such as personel moves or X's and O's.....and they are not qualified to do it. Few people are and even less know the whole story, such as personality conflicts, behind the scenes in fighting, etc yet they try to analyze it all anyway. The biggest laugh to me as a coach of 20 years and former player is when they try to talk X's and O's yet never played, coached, or had anything to do with being on a football team. Part of the reason they do it is because the fans seem to enjoy the same discussion. I get that. However, its mostly fiction and finger pointing.

I lost respect for the Miami media when they were caught cheering on the opposing team in a bar. Then there was the time they were blantantly stealing their information from elsewhere without crediting people.

God theres been so much crap with them it's hard to trust any of the media until they start being more responsible for what they write.

cole wasnt dissing Sabans media rules. He stated that it was the same philosophy that BB has. he also stated that HE did not want to get into a war with saban about the policy, but the media in general would jump on Saban if he fails.

yeah whatever the definition of failure is. In other words, you dont win a SB, then you are Rich Kotite. Unlike 26 other coaches.

BS. It's one thing to want to lose a game but to openly cheer it on in a public venue they should have lost their jobs the next day. That's the only reason they dealt with it was because they got 'caught' and feared for their jobs. And that's only one incident out of many. The media in this town has always been full of sh*t disturbers.

Anyone who cheers on an opposing team isn't a true fan. Your the type that won't be around if the team pulls a 90's bengals. A fan supports his team even when there are things they'd like to change. It's one thing to sit there and scream "f*ck wanny and I hope he gets fired" during the game. It's another to root for the opposing team.

No cheering in the press box...if a reporter were caught cheering for the team he was covering, then he would be fired in an instant.

DolfanMike, I think Huizenga is a sniveling, conniving ***. My personal opinion though. We can agree to disagree on this one. Haha, just so you know, I am a Marlins fan, if that clears anything up for you. And I'm gonna preemptively say that the firesale after '97 doesn't bother me...it's the rest of Wayne-o's crap.

It works the other way also. I'm amazed how incompetent former athletes are when they assume media roles. Marino, for example, occasionally accosted journalists for not understanding the Xs and Os of football. "You have no clue," he said once, or something very close to that. Yet have you ever heard Marino say ONE astute "wow, I never knew that!" comment while analyzing NFL games? I certainly have not. He routinely provides the same basic simpleton analysis as all the other former players. If you didn't know who played and who did not you could never tell based on their commentary.

Hank Stram used to point out things I didn't know. In their breakdown shows, Jaworski and Merril Hodge and even Salisbury show individual plays and why they succeeded or failed. But that is long after the fact. As the game unfolds, I've never seen any evidence former players are even 1% superior analysts to non-players. Former coaches, yes. Players, no.

In regard to media access, it's pathetic Saban doesn't realize he has no chance to prevail in a battle with the media. They will eat out of his hand if he provides even base access without infantile rules or denial. But if you turn the local media against you, they only have every day of the year to take it on you. Perception becomes reality and they can twist perception any way they choose.

i dont see why so much of you dont like cole. is it because his unbiased reporting offends some of you super-homers?

This response wholly ignores the power these guys exercise in influencing the mind of fans who are blown about like blades of grass. This is like telling people that if they don't like pornography on network television, just turn it off. Sorry. Mass media affects society and sports writers affect fan opinion.
Damn straight. Same is true at my level of Know-it-all parent fans!

Read the thread that Dolfanmike posted.....

The freakin guy was celebrating the fact that the Dolphins got eliminated that year.....

I would say that he is hardly "unbiased"......just the opposite.

<---super homer I love it :)
