Jason Cole on Cold Pizza.....

Why mention that Saban responded and then don't tell us what Saban said. If the reporter told you what Saban said in an email then it is fair game. Why would what you say cause the guy to write another article? Spill the beans.

I'm sorry but, IMO, private correspondence is exactly that, unless permission is specifically granted, to share what is said.

There is no such thing as "private correspondence" in a written email to someone you don't know.

If you guys don't like the media, don't read their stuff.

This response wholly ignores the power these guys exercise in influencing the mind of fans who are blown about like blades of grass. This is like telling people that if they don't like pornography on network television, just turn it off. Sorry. Mass media affects society and sports writers affect fan opinion.

Scratching their heads trying to remember what Saban said at a PC because they can't write things down.

If the e-mail were to me, I would ask if I could share what it said and I wouldn't share it publicly until/unless I received permission. But, like I said, that's just me.

Agua, no offense, man, but you're a little biased. TV and newspaper are very different things. You don't have to pick up the paper nor do you have to open the sports section nor do you have to believe a word that is written.

And tigerskin, if you want to know, e-mail him. I guarantee he will answer you. If he tells you what he told me, feel free to spread it as you wish. I don't feel comfortable spreading it. It just bore mentioning that you guys are overreacting, much more so than Saban did. And the main reason why is because Skolnick might next be writing a follow-up to complete a trilogy praising Saban for what he wants to do now that he heard that some people were in fact insulted. That's all I'm saying.

I lost respect for the Miami media when they were caught cheering on the opposing team in a bar. Then there was the time they were blantantly stealing their information from elsewhere without crediting people.

God theres been so much crap with them it's hard to trust any of the media until they start being more responsible for what they write.

Ugly, bloody and uncomfortable? As a fan, who cares? Saban is setting the tone and letting everyone know who is boss. The media will have to cater to him, especially with the fans fully in support of Saban. He is following a precedent of dealing with the media set by Parcells and Belichick, guys who have won a combined 5 Super Bowls. That is what I care about as a fan, not whether the media likes him or not. If he wins, the media will fawn over the guy.

You don't care because you get local (semi-local?) coverage of the Phins. I - and so many others on this board - rely on the written media to have a sense of what's happening with my team.

I can't tell you what a luxury it was when I was in Miami a couple weeks ago to turn on the news and have 2-3 minute segments dedicated to the Phins.

Point is, if there's a secret war going on between Saban and the media, it affects how I get my news. Furthermore, it skews the coverage, and I'm not getting the right information. So it matters.

BTW, infinsible, that avatar is amazing. Huizenga is such a moron...

With all due respect, we all need to get over that.

Fact is that I, someone who has been a fan of this team since '71, was cheering that particular event as well. Why? Because I thought it would bring about the end of the Wannstedt era, plain and simple. Because sometimes you have to lose in order to win.

I don't know about Salguero, but Cole has come clean and taken his lumps for that incident, and it's beneath us to continue to hold it against him.

BS. It's one thing to want to lose a game but to openly cheer it on in a public venue they should have lost their jobs the next day. That's the only reason they dealt with it was because they got 'caught' and feared for their jobs. And that's only one incident out of many. The media in this town has always been full of sh*t disturbers.

Anyone who cheers on an opposing team isn't a true fan. Your the type that won't be around if the team pulls a 90's bengals. A fan supports his team even when there are things they'd like to change. It's one thing to sit there and scream "f*ck wanny and I hope he gets fired" during the game. It's another to root for the opposing team.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face?

I hope you were kidding.

Salguero is not great. He and Hank Goldberg had it go their heads that they occasionally are on ESPN. Le Batard has always been ****y, too. But there are some good writers down here who give criticism when deserved and credit when deserved. I also see how a lot of you think the Miami media can be too tough...this is one of the easiest major sports media towns in the country. This is a cakewalk compared to New York, Boston, L.A., or even Kansas City with that joke Whitlock spewing his crap.

Why would i kid about a thing like that?

If losing one game meant getting rid of the cancer that was Wannstedt, you telling me you wouldn't gladly cheer for it? It's like chemo to get rid of cancer - it'll make you vomit, lose your hair, and make you weak as hell - but in the end it lets you live, right?
