Jets working out David Garrard

Garrard was the "starter" two weeks into training camp and before any of the four preseason games were played. Doesn't mean that he was definitely going to be the Week 1 starter in the regular season. Tannehill was 3rd on the depth chart when Garrard got hurt, but over the next four weeks worked his way into the starting role. It is very likely that Tannehill would have passed Garrard if he was still healthy.

There is no guarantee he will start in New York, but he might be the best option in relation to Sanchez.

I dont think anyone can speculate how likely it was that tannehill would have beat him out

Also I personally think its quite moronic to think that Garrard came up with some phantom injury to cost himself millions of dollars. why not come up with that after week 1 and make as much money as possible.
Obviously he impressed our staff enough to make him number one on depth chart

The first team snaps were shared and it was declared an open competition prior to and during camp. Garrard got hurt on Aug 11 knocking him out and it was between Moore and Tannehill. Tannehill was named starter on 21 Aug. Sanchez took snaps with the first teamers in PS games 1 and 2 then was officially announced after practice on 26 Aug prior to game 3.

Nifty little play on words that Tannehill was given the job because of a lack of competition yet you will try and tell me how Sanchez won the job instead of reminding everyone his competition was Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge, and Chris Pizzotti. How impressive is that level of competition? Talk about a coaching staff being underwhelmed.

I should have known better then to try and have an objective conversation with you because you still continue to try and paint pictures to fit your agenda instead of engaging in an intelligent and unbiased dialogue.

Go ahead and take a stab with the last word.

The Jets drafted him knowing he'd be starting week 1 if things went according to plan. Miami was saying all along Tannehill wasn't ready, they wanted to start him on the bench and work him in during the season. When Garrard got hurt is when tannehill stepped up.

ahh, the famous personal shots b/c you have nothing. I wouldn't expect anything less from someone like you.

Well with Moore signing it looks like it's gonna be the "dream team" of Quinn and Garrard and Sanchez:lol2:

but wouldn't the great Matt Moore think he can start in NY over the terrible Sanchez?

You would think. Or perhaps Moore realizes that the Jets won't have an actual competition for fear that Sanchez' confidence will erode even further if the Jets actually try and upgrade him.

It's about winning games, the player who they feel gives them the best chance will be the starter but all things would be equal. It would be Sanchez throwing to Schilens and Moore throwing to Holmes, they'd be playing w/ the same deck and Sanchez would beat him out.

Ted your answer is that:

When a clueless HC refuses to take Buttsboy out no matter how badly he craps the bed or even try the unconventional QB whose playoff victories the previous year were a lot more impressive than anything the bottom tier starter ever accomplished - and has a tattoo of that slug's jersey on his arm to boot, anyone who thinks that Moore, including him, himself, would have had a fair shot to legitimately win the job is delusional. Beyond that, being in the division and observing said HC and dysfunctional team's antics up close and personal, Moore is too smart and prideful to insert himself into that circus.

Matt Moore's response to Joe Rose when asked if he gave the Jets any consideration.

"Not really. There's a lot going on up there... I didn't give it much thought."

Asked what a player looks for in free agency when deciding where to go, Moore says that coaches, roster and philosophy are important along with money, and from there you go to location, weather, and 'is it the Jets?'

The Jets wont find many that want to deal with the mess they have going on. As of right now they still only have 10 returning starters...26+ holes to fill with less that 6mil. No way they could have given Moore the 4mil per.

what do you think he's going to say? this is a guy who has never been in a playoff race and he's taking shots against a better organization? he's better off in Miami w/o any pressure to win.

If we had cap space we'd see people lining up, it's all about money. Right now we don't have money to throw around which is why you will be getting FAs. Good luck w/ that, hopefully you do as well as last years offseason champ Tampa Bay.

The Jets aren't shopping Revis because of their awful salary cap situation, they're shopping him because he wants to get out of the clown car.

And you're damn right I hope we do as well as Tampa Bay did last offseason. Vincent Jackson was an excellent signing, he is a damn good player. Had like 1,400 yards and almost 20 YPC with 8 touchdowns and completely changed that offense. Josh Freeman would be bait right now if Jackson hadn't signed there.

The Jets want to trade cornerback Darrelle Revis. Revis doesn’t want to be traded.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports fills in the obvious blanks created by the broad philosophical divide, reporting that the lack of cooperation between the Jets and the player’s agents is making it harder to make something happen.

Revis wants to stay.

You can have all the meaningless stats you want, TB was 7-9 and lost 5 of their last 6 to miss the playoffs.
