stop it, the Jets were not the favorites at that point in the season. 2 weeks earlier before we started the 3 game losing streak we could have been considered a favorite but that was early.
Geno was a ROOKIE who wasn't even going to start for us, Ryan was in year 2 for Miami still playing in his college system not needing to learn a new system. Miami had MUCH more talent than we did on O and was expecting to be a playoff team. we were supposedly the worst team in the league yet we finished in 2nd place ahead of you.
Again, I think comparing coaches is very difficult and very subjective....but....
Rex
Year Offense Rank Defense Rank
2009 20th 1st
2010 11th 3rd
2011 25th 5th
2012 30th 8th
2013 25th 11th
All teams have injuries and all teams have bad games....it is going to happen. However if you look at the body of work, you could easily make a strong argument that Rex and former GM Tannenbaum had an issue with the players they picked and brought in to improve this team. He has regressed every year on defense which is his strength and the offense has been woeful. Rex brought a lot of his former Raven players to the Jets and it worked when they were young, but as they aged, he has struggled to replace them.
If after 5 years, Philbin also has this type of record, then I will be the first to tell you that they are very similar and Philbin should be fired. However at this point, there is a huge difference in talent between the team Rex inherited in 2009 and the team Philbin got in 2012. Lets let Philbin have a similar amount of time and see how he does.
