Jon Martin Thoughts?

They have no choice but to cut him. I just hope he doesn't wind up in New England and turn into an all-pro.

Anything is possible. Hell New England just always seems better at utilizing players.

I would be open to giving him the opportunity to make the roster. However, if he didn't show significant improvement, I'd cut him. He was underperforming badly at the time of incident.
I'm still of the belief that he had a mini breakdown. Many mental health disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder can be successfully treated with the correct medication. Some people who are bipolar don't like taking their medication because they get their kicks out of their manic state.
I don't know what happened but I'm inclined to believe Richie's Dad when he made comments to the effect that Martin was suicidal. I'm pretty sure that J-Mart is embarrassed about his public implosion but I'd give him the chance to show what he can do (especially without Incognito in the room).
While most have embraced the "Martin's a snake" theory, I would not be surprised if Coach Philbin sticks his neck out to give J-Mart a second chance.

Why do you feel that because someone have a mental problem its acceptable for that person to be a back stabber and someone you cant trust?? He needs to get himself mentally healthy and prove that he can work among others again, and going back to an environment like the NFL is a terrible move for him personally. And it will be a stupid move by the dolphins to allow someone that they can not depend on and trust back into the organization.

Im just wondering if pro bowl voters realize there are two Pouncey's and thought it was his brother still playing.
No way he should have been voted into the pro bowl this year

Noone on this team aside from fields and grimes deserve the pro bowl. Vernon could sniff it, but no shot in hell wake deserved it.

How can you be embarrassed and show up at a Stanford game, smiling and yucking it up? Just doesn't sit right with me. He made his bed, let him squirm in it.

Wasn't it the game vs USC & they lost?

Here is irony... Stanford has turned out some physically & emotionally strong players then along comes JM.

I think you keep him exactly where he is, for his entire contract. Pay him, keep him out of football, avoid
potential wrongful termination lawsuits, reach out to him (Documented) through whatever channels he
wishes contact to go through, and ride it on out.

Agreed. Lawsuits for an alleged hostile work environment & potential wrongful termination are not what the phins need. Maybe, Martin's mommy is slithering her tongue at the thought? I

p.s. The world would be a far better place w/ a few (okay most if not all) Ivy League educated Lawyers.

Martin is done. I guarantee the NFL and it's teams wants to bury the whole bullying thing then bury the shovel they buried it with. It could ruin the NFL.

Thank you for that submission. I don't know how this thread managed without it. When there's a political loudmouth in a public place, I don't have to guess which side he's on. The odds are no less than -10000 favoritism.

As always, never prevent a conservative from sounding like a conservative.

Your previous post siding with Martin allowed for me to sound off. You opened the door, I just walked through it. The fact you don't like it, proves my point. Leave it to a liberal to be offended, and well sound like a liberal. Ed Schultz is this you? Toure? I made this point during the height of this CNN/MSNBC issue ad for the left. And it is what it is. He and Jason Collins are media darlings because they are poster 'children' for the lefts causes.

Political Loudmouth in a public place?

The fact his family has connections to Rep. Charles Rangel (democrat NY), and a lawyer for liberal progressive workplace laws, has absolutely nothing to do with Martin and his family dragging the franchise through the mud? GTFO.

This one should be some fun. Hoping that calmer heads will prevail now that the Bountygate commotion has subsided but, seriously doubt it. :)

This is a two step thread. The first is Martin ON THE FIELD as a player in 2014.

In his rookie year, Martin played 11 games ar RT, 5 at LT. He was bad on the run (-6), and gave up 6 sacks, 4 hits, and 47 hurries, bad again. He was not strong enough to play, as we all knew, but he did what he could as a 2nd round pick.

Let's compare to Lane Johnson, who played 16 games at RT. He was good on the run (+6), and gave p 10 sacks, 8 hits, and 39 hurries. He was the #4 overall pick, NFL ready, and someone everyone loved but, struggled.

Martin did spend the time, on his own, to get stronger before year #2, did improve, was still not god but, showed some promise.

Then comes Bullygate, and all the "stuff" surrounding it. He was ripped to shreds, and maybe justifiably so. That has lost most of it's impact, and now we have to figure out what to do with Jon Martin in the best interest of our team.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IF Martin is the best available option to help our OL, is there any chance or reason to keep him. Replacing 4 guys on the OL is not gonna be easy at all, and he is cheap. Does the option of what he can do, ON THE FIELD, matter or, do we just get whatever we can for him in trade as he will be a cancer IF he came back?
if martin cared about football the way an nfl player should care they he would have gotten stronger this offseason...he didn't, EFF him...

Ideally, we could trade him for anything just to clear the cap space, and find another cheap replacement. I doubt anyone will bite, since they KNOW we cant keep him, nor should we.
I think his play and high draft position would require us to make it work, and hope the team accepts him back, but that is unlikely and he will probably not want to come anywhere near this team. It would be nice if he could come back and play RT again, and play better than before so that would only leave us with 3 major holes on Oline, but again that is very unlikely.
