Jonnu Smith Trade? | Page 17 | FinHeaven - Miami Dolphins Forums

Jonnu Smith Trade?

Yeah because a TE that wouldn’t even be a top 3 option (Hill, Waddle, Achane) is more important than the DT we desperately needed. Even WR #3 and #4 are promising. Warren was never going to be the ideal pick
If they valued that position, they could have gotten Jason Taylor’s kid in the 2nd. They clearly wanted muscle and weight on the lines

Which is dumber?

1. Pay Jonnu the 4.5m he is due this year and let him walk next year for nothing
2. Extend Jonnu at the going rate say $10 per annum for two years (see the Theo Johnson contract or Noah Fant from last year)
3. Trade him whilst he at a high value now for asset either that's a pick or player

That is the conundrum.

So, we have several opportunities that can make this team good; keep a player, keep the player and pay him more to keep him longer, or trade the player for another good player or a high draft pick next year.

There is nothing "RONG" with examining your options.

There will always be fans supporting or opposing whatever we do, but winning cures everything, so FO, keep your eye on the ball- LOL

Jonnu is worth more to this offense than any team will give up for him.

Giving him an extension wouldn't be the worst thing. It's not like he would be getting $17 million per season.

Anyone that thinks Greer doing this is a good thing needs their head examined. This is asinine. As stupid as going the whole season with last year's guards.

If we're gonna sell this season, trade him. Sucks, but it is what it is. I've been lurking around Steelers boards and they generally aren't cool with the trade. They are more worried about a QB. I get it.

This is to get their qb. More weapons makes it more appealing to Rodgers.

You guys are all losing the forest through the trees. They trade back in the draft, for picks next year, when they are full of holes this year. They are considering trading Jonnu Smith, when they have little talent at the TE position. Trading Ramsey when they have no CBs. Has Grier been told his job his guaranteed for next year? Same for McDaniel? They are both sure acting like it.
It certainly seems like it. Unless if McDaniel loses the locker room.

This is a rebuild with hopes of staying competitive next year. But if Tua goes down early, we will be in line for a top 5 pick.
