Jonnu Smith Trade?

This isn't really hard to parse out what is going on with the team, the fans don't need someone from the team to come out and say what is going on.
Decisions have consequences and the people in charge, particularly Grier, should be grateful they work for an owner that is inordinately patient.
I don't think that Ross is overly patient, I believe that he is just more concerned about profits than owning a true contender and winning. Why else would he keep an incompetent GM, and hire (or allow Grier to hire) four inexperienced HCs, each with less experience than the previous HC? Ross only cares about the money, which is why he has no problem giving up home games to play internationally, hoping to get a Super Bowl in Miami. He wants the money that comes from hosting a SB more than he wants Miami to be in one. And, what owner who cares about his team's fans would build a racetrack around the stadium, taking away their parking areas? Ross is why Miami sucks.

Which is dumber?

1. Pay Jonnu the 4.5m he is due this year and let him walk next year for nothing
2. Extend Jonnu at the going rate say $10 per annum for two years (see the Theo Johnson contract or Noah Fant from last year)
3. Trade him whilst he at a high value now for asset either that's a pick or player

That is the conundrum.
Let him walk next year for a 3rd
/ 4th round comp pick you mean?

It's also funny how you people swear up and down how important it was to draft a NT and how important he is to this defense while at the same time claiming the guy we had and got rid of wanted too much so just get rid of him while at the same time claiming that salary cap doesn't matter or its fake. So, we had to pass on a potential superstar in Tyler Warren just to replace the guy we already had and then you act like people don't have a right to complain...

Who are you talking about? 39 year old Calais Campbell or Wilkins? The most overpaid player in the league who might have had a career ending injury last year? Not that it matters as it’s a pretty stupid take overall but I guess there’s levels to how clueless you actually are.

It's clearly a transition year. Doesn't mean we can't win. Ppl think it's mutually exclusive

No because there’s 0 chance he gets a contract that qualifies for a 3rd or 4th. Not only would they have to sacrifice not signing players and losing more than they gain but he’ll be 31 next season. No way his aav and length is 3rd or 4th round grade. Holland will barely net us a 4th if playing time is met and he signed for 15 a year for a 3 year deal. At most probably in the 10-12 range which would make him borderline top 10 but age will limit length to likely a 2 year deal. We’d be lucky with a 5th but that would mean sitting out free agency once again when after trading Ramsey this season and trading or cutting reek next season which are almost guaranteed moves Miami would be around 55 million and likely much more active in the free agent market after years of not having any money to do much other than bargain hunt. A cut of Chubb post June 1st could put them towards 80 million.

In either case Campbell nor Wilkins are really guys that fit don’t Weavers vision. It’s clear he wants big boys drafted 3 dlinemen all 315+. Both Campbell and Wilkins are on the lighter side and around 300. Sure already has the smaller pash rushing role.

Is the NT you are referencing Raekown?

The Falcons drafted the "generational" talent in Kyle Pitts with the 4th overall pick in the 2021 draft. He was touted as possibly the best tight end ever to enter the draft. Given the opportunity, do you think they would redraft him at 4 again? Success at the collegiate level, no matter how impressive, doesn't always translate to similar production in the NFL. Warren was the primary everything in Penn State's O, he'll never be used the same in a pro offense.
He's a very talented and well-rounded player, but it's a huge risk to select him with your first-round pick. To get the best ROI on him, you'll have to feature him in your offense, and typically, NFL offenses don't feature their TE as their primary weapon. If I had a young, stacked team and needed a TE, then maybe I would have taken the risk, but certainly not in our current state. Just my opinion...
He also never tested before the draft, that's a huge red flag for me. I'm guessing he would have tested poorly and I wonder if those that wanted to draft him at #13 would still have wanted to if he ran a 4.85 or something like that.

His film is great but as you said he had plenty of opportunities to look great. He'll never get that level of targets in the NFL.

This is why this team always sucks. Cant wait til all these clowns are out of Miami. We have money to extend him. He did a great job last year. Grier is a absolute Joke.
And this time next year after the offense fixes the running game and targets Hill, Waddle and Achane more people will be sitting here saying "Grier is a clown for extending Jonnu and now we are stuck with another over 30 with a huge contract. Why does he keep making the same mistake."

He will not be targeted anywhere near as much this year and his blocking is not good. The only 30 year old on the team that deserves an extension and raise is Sieler, he is massively underpaid.
