LaCanfora: Ross headed to London and then China

Phelps might come....especially since there is a petition going around FL with enough signatures to get marijuana legalization on the next FL ballot, and we all know that if your state legalizes weed, you go to the super bowl - see Washington and Colorado.

I mailed in my signature a couple months ago. Go Fins!

What kills me is that all these reporters are acting like they are getting inside info from the candidates or someone from the front office. I really find that hard to believe, as if you were a candidate, the last thing you would want to do is piss off the team that might be hiring you or complain about the power structure before you even know. Now if it was from a candidate that took themselves out of contention, then maybe. This just stinks of more reporters jumping on the "bash Miami" bandwagon. It's not being done to TB or Cleveland because it's much more fashionable to bash/question everything Miami does right now. Let's just let it all play out and then everyone can pass judgement then.

I can't really blame the media, as we've looked pretty joke in many an instance, and whenever the Dolphins try to fix their problems, it's always 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Parcells up and leaving. Even though it was a good thing that he did, that must have sent a shock of "There's no saving this team..." around the NFL
Sparano getting disrespected by Ross and Ireland during the haphazard coaching search.
Missing multiple big names in FA. You certainly can't get them all, but when a lot of big name guys turn you down, you know the media's gonna bite.
All of the headcases that Ireland's brought here: Marshall, Ocho-Cinco, JMartin, Incog., not to mention the Bullygate.
Ireland's ridiculous spending spree that proved to be only half-worth it.

Hiopefully, a good GM at the helm making good personnel decisions will cure a lot of the bad press in due time. And Winning cures everything.

Honestly, I respectfully disagree. Where does the perception come from? Davie? It's Miami's fault Parcells wants to leave? Parcells IMO probably never wanted to be here in the first place and just scammed Huizenga for $$$ with a ****ty contract.
We were celebrated when he came in, but it's our fault he's a dick.

Sparano/Ross this may be the only blemish. Sure he should've fired Sparano, but to be honest, in any other area in the business world, this is normal procedure.

All GMs miss on big time FAs and drafts. The names you used can be argued in various ways. Marshall/Incog were probowlers. JMart was a ***** but most organizations would've drafted. Bullygate? Please. IMO it's a reflection of JMart more thn the team and players.

Everyone loved Ireland's spending spree in September when were started the season off to a fast start. What... coaching gets no blame here. IMO the failure of the season has to do more with coaching than it does talent... with the exception of the offensive line.

I think guys like Alzuguaray and Salguero sell everyone a big pile of drama worthy of TMZ style bush-league reporting and it gets eaten up by fats, and most importantly National Media who have NO inside connections and almost ALWAYS quote stories in the local Miami newspapers. That's not reporting. That's gossip spreading. And don't think guys like Salguero love the fact fans take his word as gospel. It sells papers, brings people to their website, and makes him look good to his peers.

I'll use this example, did you see how the players came out in response to Bullygate? Unified, proud, and on the offense. Why shouldn't they? Nobody really knows what's going on in Davie. And people who leak information are only bit players. You'd never have the people involved talking ****.

The only comment I'll add here on Ross flying to China right now is that if he has a deal in the works there, he probably has NO CHOICE. Chinese New Year starts on the 31st and the entire country shuts down for over two weeks. I mean the entire country shuts down.

It's not like he intentionally picked a bad time to fly to the far side of the globe.

Then he is an awful planner and way over his head in what he is doing. He should sell or find someone to buy a majority stake in the team. Him "landing a big deal" in China does nothing for me. Him hiring a quality GM might make my next six years more enjoyable on Sunday afternoon's.

First, I'm sure he didn't expect to be firing people. Which... yes, does make him an awful planner.

Second, I don't think this impacts our ability to hire a quality GM. Do you think that Farmer, Xanders, or any of the other candidates you like will refuse to take the job because Ross is taking three days off this week for business travel?

Third, I'm not going to rip him for having successful ventures outside of the football team. Those ventures are paying for this football team.

Do you realize that the Dolphins showed a loss of 14 million dollars last year? Ross is infusing cash from his other assets into the team. Now, a lot of that is due to stadium debt, but it is what it is. And yes, before someone chimes in to tell me how corporate accounting works, I know damn well how cash flow, debt structure, depreciation, and operating income work together. It's still a reality that the Miami Dolphins have not been a good investment for Ross.

:bobdole:

just give it up dude, I know you think the whole GM search is about you, but there are many factors that you are completely unaware of.

Again, I am shocked you give an owner that has yet to have a winning season under his watch such the benefit of the doubt. You bar is simply lower than mine.

Because I don't blast Ross for taking a quick business trip doesn't mean my bar is lower. It just means your brow is lower.

Not shocked that you run with every vague and incomplete tweet in order to blast a search that is taking an acceptable amount of time.

Gotta check in with FlynRyan to see if this is true and have him track him.

He's already back from London. He was there for a day and a half. He's currently in New York and has been there since the 16th, unless any flight plans he had this week were private.

Cheers.

The owner has done nothing to give him benefit of doubt but its not like we are missing out on some awesome GM because we are still deciding.

I wonder if they are waiting to name a GM to offset any potential negativity of the Martin decision.
