Lamar Miller- 5th in NFL rushing yard / 2nd in YPC

Yeah right now we are 59% pass and 41 % run, much closer to balanced.

Last year was ridiculous with 65% pass and 35% run, got to stick to it and keep the QB attempts down.

Here's a run down of where Miller is running.

Left end- 5 carries for 50 yards

Left tackle- 2 for 7

LG- 10 for 47

Middle left- 8 for 50

Middle right- 10 for 41

RG- 4 for 11

RT- 4 for 33

Right end- 6 for 38

That is the one thing i noticed, once he gets to the second level, rather than trying to put a move on the guy he just puts his head down and tries to go through him. This is great when going through the line, but with his speed it would be nice to see him try to go by that guy and go all the way.
I don't think thats ever going to change though…so they might as well teach him to run through some guys like he has been trying to do. He is actually a pretty big back. He has freakish burst and good long speed but he is not elusive…he's not going to juke guys, which is why I hate using him in the passing game (and his hands are stone). In contrast to a guy like Daniel Thomas who lacks burst or speed anything like Miller but you will see him shake a defender or two which is why he looks much more natural catching the football out there.

So people are now praising the same O-line that was apparently the cause of Tannehill's suckiness? Wait, what?

He's #1 in goal line fumbles. That has to change immediately.

Aside from that, he has looked better this year. I like how he takes on contact, but he could still run around a tackler instead of trying to plow over them, especially when he gets to the 2nd level.
THIS. I've been hard on the kid because I think he gets careless w the ball as his eyes light up w goaline in sight - last year vs cincy was so bonehead after feeling off such a great run. The one against the pats was same thing. Yesterday not sure what happened but can't cough it up there. That said he seems to have taken a big step this year.

Yeah! why wouldnt they? they played good today. Not every poster is agenda driven you know...

When the OL opens the holes all of the Dolphins RB's have done well for years. It's just not often our OL opens holes consistently.

As soon as Bill Lazor's name came up for OC consideration I was ecstatic and said he would manufacture a run game. Personally, I believe that is what he has done. Miller has fumbled and gained the yards he OC and OL have given him. I haven't been impressed despite the stats. Seldom does he make a guy miss or break a tackle. Often his poor vision has him out running his blocking. I'll be happy when Moreno returns.

Moreno has a 5.5 ypc so far so add that to Miller's 5.7 and the team looks like it can run the ball. The issue is opportunities though. Even yesterday at one point the Dolphins had 20 passes to 7 runs. Sure it worked vs. Oakland but more balance will be needed the rest of the year.

Miller out running his blocking has very little to do with his vision but his lack of patience. Miller sometimes is too eager to get the ball and run that he either doesn't wait for the blocks to develop or fails to set up the blocks. Moreno on the other hands rarely seems to be in a hurry and was very good against New England in letting the linemen get in position to finish/complete their blocks before hitting the hole.

Dear God, can you even post about Miller without bringing up the same freaking 2 runs??!!!! When people do that it completely takes any shred of importance out of 90% of your posts bc people see right through an agenda. EVERY thread about Miller those 2 runs are brought up. The horse is dead...you can stop beating it now!!!

Right side of the OL got straight up abused in pass pro vs the Chiefs, especially in the 2nd half. It happens. Satele and Thomas need to be replaced after the bye.

Also, keep in mind that play design helps the running game a lot, as Digital alludes to. We're creating space with the way we line up when we run the ball. The Raiders were faced with a choice between having enough guys in the box to defend the run or lining up 3 DBs over on the far side of the field yesterday, and they chose several times to keep guys in the box to defend the run. #17, #11, and #10 made them pay for that.

Demarco Murray, the NFL's league leading rusher, has more fumbles than Miller. Adrian Peterson usually leads league in fumbles. While I agree with you I would make this a focus of thread.

Exactly, and also let us not forget Miller has had some deficiencies in the past, but being a fumbler is not one of them, having two this early is extremely rare.

Outstanding stat, really special considering our Oline issue from last year. Shout out to both LM and the line.

I'll say this much, his YPC is a much better representation of an average run than it was last year. If he had a stat line of 12 carries for 64 yards last year, it probably would have been something like one run for 50 yards and then 14 yards on the other 11 carries.

As has been said many times before, this team simply HAS to stay committed to the run with how well it has gone so far.
