Lazor using Egnew as a WR more

Egnew is 6'5" and allegedly has great hands. He made his name at Mizzou for his ability at just catching the ball. While Sherman rounded him out by improving his blocking, Lazor probably wants to understand if he is worth investing further time and effort or if it makes sense to cut bait.
He's probably on the bubble but could be a weapon to a new OC who likes to create mismatches. This is good news.
There is a reason why Hickey drafted a great blocking TE, because egnew will be a TE used to throw the ball to and nothing else, the communication between our GM and coaches improved a lot, Ireland wasn't necessary a bad GM, he drafted great players also but I feel he wanted his own coach and never got it.

Could anyone see clay in the backfield in shotgun to then have wallace hartline gibson and landry out wide? Then we could no huddle and then go 5 wide from that with clay on the line. Or even some big packages with lynch, egnew, clay and wallace with miller in the backfield might be interesting to see. Still have a deep presence in wallace, threat with miller busting large gains, egnew 6'5 in the seem, lynch blocking or short, and clay as the swiss army knife doing anything.

Its ok. We disagree. But as I see it, Lynch wins this one vs. Sims by default. I'm not saying Lynch is Gronkowski, because he clearly isnt. Lynch is just a better run blocker an pass protector than Sims and also a better receiver although he has a lot of room for improvement.

Lynch is not fast. The "in" thing these days is to go for speed TE's that are essentially possession WR's and seam threats. The in line TE's aren't in demand.

Furthermore, Lynch, like many college kids, is inconsistent. If he were fast and consistent he would be Zack Ertz. The NFL would still prefer Eric Ebron over Zack Ertz in a draft because Ebron is more athletic ... but Ertz us more of a Lazor style player.

As for Sims, he is big and lumbering, but neither a good blocker nor receiver. I do not see much from him for the future.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

Im confused... Wasnt he supposed to be the "best blocking TE in the draft in 2013"? Now all of a sudden he cant block? I dont get it.

I was hoping they would add a te in free agency or a high pick in the draft but maybe they like what they have. If lazor can get anything out egnew that would be huge

There are many players who take time to develop and find their place in the NFL. A few examples would be Clay (who few thought could be a starter), Jones, Clemons, and even Yeatman who we are still trying to develop. From last year, there was Dallas, Taylor, and Sims, and let's not forget Soliai who was a bust in his first two seasons.

There are many more throughout the NFL, and the bottom line is that coaches have seen something in these players we have not, which they believe there is reason to keep them. Some will work out, others will not. Egnew improved in his second year, and who knows what happens this year?

I go back to our "microwave society" looking for players to be good instantly, and that does not work in the NFL.

I guess the fans of this team maybe looking for the "microwave society" players more than other teams due to the lack of play makers that have game changing ability.

HE also lost something like 20 lbs. to improve his speed and potential as a pass catcher...I assume the weight loss has hurt his ability to anchor and get push...

Yea he did lose weight which probably affected his blocking and some extra time in the weight room would really help him. But I like sims. I am hoping Sims, clay, lynch and gator are our tightends.

It also has dangerous seem TE.

And like CT said, dropping that weight should help that as well.

Yeah, patience has worn VERY thin over the years.

Damn J I thought we got pass that . But you hitches on this site "Always there to remind you"

Hitches?

Here's a list of hitches:

1. Fifth wheel
2. Gooseneck
3. Front-mount
4. Weld-on
5. Fixed tongue
6. RV

Any other hitches I should put on that hitch list?

lol Microwave society that feels that a 3rd round pick should have more than 7 receptions in 2 years.Im sorry u don't take a player in the third round that takes his entire rookie contract to actually be able to play for your team.
Of course though its the uninformed fans and not the idiots that draft players like this
